7 Cats Whose Sleeping Positions Boggle the Mind
Sometimes I'm convinced cats are made of rubber. They're so agile and can twist themselves into some of the funkiest positions! And the crazy thing is they appear to be completely comfortable. My body would be so jacked up if I slept anywhere close to those positions. I'd probably never be able to untwist myself.
Here are seven cats who seem perfectly cozy in wonderfully wonky sleeping positions.
1. The prop master
This cat's using the back of a laptop as a pillow. 'Cause laptops are comfy like that. That's not even really the warm part of the computer, so what gives, kitty?
Have you ever fallen asleep with your head propped on the arm of the sofa? And then woken up with your head stuck tilted to the side, looking like one of those zombies from the Thriller video? Well, I have and it's not all that thrilling. I'll bet this kitty wakes up feeling fresh as a daisy. No fair.
2. The face plant
This sleeping position never fails to tickle and confuse me. How does a cat breathe when her nose is square to the surface? My cats have even snoozed nose-down on hard surfaces. I love it when their eyes slowly close and their heads steadily drop, until they're in that exact position. It's like watching slow-motion video. Funny stuff.
3. The flip-flop face
It's not like kitty is lacking room on this shelf. All he or she has to do is scoot over just a little and the head will fit nicely. But in typical nonsensical cat fashion, the cat decides it's a better idea to drop the head over the edge ... upside down. What if she woke up and forgot she'd fallen asleep upside down? "Whoa! Trippy!"
Also, this cat gets bonus points for peeky teeth.
4. The slug
Our cat Saffy sleeps in this position all the time. We call it "the slug," well, because she looks like a slug when she's stretched like that. It's a modified loaf, really. I want a neck like a cat.
5. The upside-down twisty-dangle
Cats who sleep on their backs totally crack me up! Only one of my cats sleeps like this -- thankfully it's our big girl, Saffy. You see, a rotund cat on their back is way better eye candy, in my opinion. This cat not only nails the back position, the top part of her body is twisted and her back legs are dangled over the edge of the sofa. Can someone tell me what part of this is comfortable? Nonetheless, so many wins in this pic.
6. The face plant-flop
All right, take a gander at this guy. He's got the face-down thing going on and then he's straddling part of a wooden fence. How does one even get into this position? It's like he got stuck and then decided to give it up and settle in for a nap.
7. The optical illusion
Now this is a hunka hunka bowl-o-cat. I imagine at one time kitty was balled up tightly inside that basket and then decided to stretch. Mid stretch, she either decided she liked the new position or couldn't manage to get back into the original one. She's like an optical illusion. Where does she end and where does she begin? All I know is I majorly want to bury my face in that belly and take a few dozen huffs.
