Cat Owner's Manual › Chapter 6: Cat Grooming › Selecting a Professional Cat Groomer ›Selecting a Professional Cat Groomer
Most owners can easily handle the grooming needs of a shorthaired cat. However, longhaired varieties may require regular professional intervention. Most veterinarians keep lists of recommended groomers; a few even employ groomers on staff. Additional sources for recommendations include friends, reputable purebred dealers, and local cat clubs. If your model has special needs (for instance, if it is geriatric or wary around strangers), make sure your choice is equipped to meet them. Visit the salon during business hours for an unscheduled inspection. Are the facilities clean? Is everything neat and orderly? Are cats segregated from dogs? What you pay will depend on the feline's condition and the complexity of the work.
