Cat Owner's Manual › Chapter 2: Bringing Your Cat Home › Preparing the Home for a Cat ›Curiosity and the Cat
Felines will explore a new environment from floor to ceiling, cataloging every nook and cranny. Unfortunately, the old phrase "Curiosity killed the cat" has some validity. Cats and kittens, if left to their own devices, will find hiding places that no owner would ever consider—hiding places that they may have trouble getting out of. For instance, cats have been known to explore the interior spaces of reclining chairs and to be injured when the recliner is returned to its upright position. Cats also enjoy sleeping in warm clothes dryers. More than a few have been killed by owners who turned the machine on without realizing their feline had crept inside. To prevent this sort of tragedy, secure such spaces when feasible and check them regularly when not. Chapter 2: Bringing Your Cat Home
