Cat Obsessively Bites Its Nails

PROBLEM: Cat obsessively bites its nails.

CAUSE AND SOLUTION: In many cases, this behavior is directly analogous to the human habit of nervous nail-biting. Check for stress factors in the feline’s environment and try to lessen or eliminate them. This may solve the problem.

Also my 2yr old calico Cali used to do it alot to where there used to be blood and missing fur around the nail area. She did it out of being bord. Granted i have millions of toys and her sisters. I had to wrap her paws for a few weeks to get it to stop. Got her interested in other things and I havent seen her do it since.

My cat Cavuto, does this with gusto! But only on his front thumb nail.I have had him since he was an 'infant' he has never had a stressful moment in his life.I have cut his nails since he was a baby ....and luckily, as a result...he does not seem to know that he has any. He never scratches furniture or anything ...except the scratching cat tree..and the carpet. When you see him do this...he looks like a total mental patient.:) My little Burmese, Monkey occasionally does this on her back feet. ,when she does it ..it seems more like some "grooming" thing.

Quirk BooksThe Cat Owner's Manual is a basic guide to cat care.
The book was written by a celebrated veterinarian and an acclaimed author. It provides cat owners with well-researched and helpful information presented in a lighthearted manner. The creators chose to write the book in a style similar to what you'd find in "operating instructions" for a car or computer. Of course they--and we--respect the fact that our beloved pets are not products or machines!
