PROBLEM: Cat seems to loathe your new human love interest.
CAUSE AND SOLUTION: Having a cat disapprove of your new boyfriend/girlfriend is not uncommon. Neither is having it register its dissatisfaction in very unsubtle ways (snarling, perhaps even urinating on his/her possessions). However, the feline can be won over. Place one of the newcomer’s unwashed pieces of clothing near the cat’s food bowl, so the feline can familiarize itself with the new scent. Or wear an article of the love interest’s clothing while you hold the cat. Have the person in question feed the cat or play with it in a nonthreatening way. All of these techniques can create a bond of friendship—or at the very least, tolerance.
Of course... Sometimes, your feline companion is correct in it's assessment of your love interest...
Conversely, as the proud owner of a feline companion unit, you should also regard your love interest's reactions to your feline. A person who dislikes, or barely tolerates your feline companion may not be an ideal partner for you. Your commitment to your feline companion unit should take priority over a pretty face, or a nice butt.
And if your new companion acts aggressively towards your feline companion unit... I would recommend discarding the love interest post haste, before any further incompatibilities crop up.

The Cat Owner's Manual is a basic guide to cat care. The book was written by a celebrated veterinarian and an acclaimed author. It provides cat owners with well-researched and helpful information presented in a lighthearted manner. The creators chose to write the book in a style similar to what you'd find in "operating instructions" for a car or computer. Of course they--and we--respect the fact that our beloved pets are not products or machines!
