Food & Nutrition > Natura Pet Products RECALL
Cesar

| Purred: Sat Apr 20, '13 7:10pm PST | | | | | Procter & Gamble Co.'s (PG) Natura Pet Products business has again expanded its recall of dry pet foods because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
Natura said its expanded recall now includes all dry pet-food products and treats with expiration dates prior to and including March 24, 2014.
Natura first unveiled a recall of certain lots of its dry pet food last month and a week later said it was expanding the recall to include dry cat food and cat treats.
The company said sampling by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and the Georgia Department of Agriculture have confirmed the presence of Salmonella in additional dry cat food and a cat treat. The company is recalling products made in the surrounding timeframe. No canned wet food or biscuits are affected by the recall.
The affected products were sold through veterinary clinics and select pet-specialty retailers in the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Costa Rica, as well as online.
Salmonella can affect animals eating the products, and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they haven't thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products.
The company said pets with salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.
Natura recommended that customers whose pets have consumed the recalled products and have these symptoms contact their veterinarians. For further information or a product replacement or refund, customers can call Natura at 800-224-6123.

Cat Health > Teeth Cleaning and anesthesia
Cesar

| Purred: Sun Apr 14, '13 4:49pm PST | | | | | Hey Baron, what are they giving you, a whole Drug store, mol, mol. Cesar has had a few cleanings and a lot teeth pulled, he has the herpes virus (eye), which causes the loss of enamel on his teeth. For a cleaning or a tooth pull, all we were charged was the anesthetic, cleaning or teeth pulled ( or both? )if need a inject-able antibiotic, and usually clavamox for 7 days. no x-rays or blood work, a few times the was no inject-able antibiotic needed. x-rays and blood work is your choice. now, we have had the same vet since 1983, so, we do trust him and the rest of the staff there. we never had a bill close to as much as yours is. Mailed your estimate to you? We always got ours handed to us by the vet. You might want to condir calling around, talk to a few other vets, because this just sounds way too much for a teeth cleaning, good luck.

Cat Health > Soft Stools, Diarrhea: Solutions & Experiences

| Purred: Wed Feb 20, '13 5:14pm PST | | | | | not sure if this will help or not, when i first got cesar, he had diarrhea, and you knew it when he went, our vet told me to try a 1/4 teaspoon of REGULER strength kaopectate. after about 2-3 days, it cleared cesar up, and since then, no problems. if any of my kitties happens to get a upset tummy, usually give them a 1/4 teaspoon, and within a day, they are back to themselves. but, as always, check with your vet first.
