i find it extremely hard to find anything other than chicken, chicken liver, and beef liver. I dont feed beef because my girls throw it up (whole beef, not canned)

i live in an apartment or else id get some meat rabbits myself and prepare them.

ive seen a few of the cats 101 episodes. sometimes they feature a region and the native cats. they are not really a breed but a type. they are usually that regions free roaming cats.

i dont know where the information from the article is coming from. Here in the midwest there are tons of kittens. Michigan shelters are extremely hopeless in their situations. I personally worked with some of the highest kill rate animal controls in the entire midwest (maybe even the USA)

People snatch up kittens quickly but dump them off at around 1-2 years. I think we need to look at numbers as a whole, not divided by age. Cats are kittens and kittens are cats, after all.

Please help me with some research by telling me what store bought food you feed and why you feed it (cost, vet recommended, ect)

the purpose of this thread is to get an idea of what foods people are feeding. please do not debate which one is better or criticize anyone's choices.

i also am interested in any brand of food you do not like and why.

again, please dont say anything negative about anyone else. This information is for a personal project of mine and not for any company. thanks guys.

Food & Nutrition > Best Diet Food

i learned the hard way that diet dry food can harm a cat. Tiny almost died from the fiber in diet dry food. My cats are on a strict wet or raw only. And it wasn't easy to convert them, but it was for the best.

i put a obese female cat on wet only and she lost weight rather nicely.

i dont think wet food rots teeth. However, i do give a few kibble treats. after i brush the cats teeth i give them one or two dental treats.despite what pet food companys say, dry food alone does not clean the teeth. if you want your cat to have healthy teeth, the teeth need to be rid of tartar by brushing. I also might note that my cats are 7 years old and have great teeth.

whatever you choose, i hope you stay away from anything thats called 'diet' or 'light' dry food. it can be so harmfull.

I have spent years researching "the best" cat food and came to this conclusion: all dry food is basically the same, and its all junk. At this point many will stop reading but i ask for you to look into it for yourself. But, set aside anything that is funded by a petfood company, and try not to get lost into the fads. I have an entire bookcase on cats, including vet textbooks. I also studyed feline nutrition with a vet, and read many books on the subject in the college library. i worked as a vet assistant, and have done rescue for over 6 years. Trust me, i have looked into this matter extensively.I hope to encourage people to do that same. I use to believe in dry food because vets said i should. I think differently now. My cats are both 8 years old and are in super health.

I almost lost my cat to diet dry food. It made her stool hard, twisted up her colon, and i spent the next year trying to save her life. It cost me 3 grand and much heartache. This was the final push to convince me to switch to canned and then from there i moved on to making my own all meat food. How, do you ask, did diet dry cause all this? by putting wood fiber in the food to cut back on calories. Cats cannot digest this well. It isnt food, after all!

I know that all meat homemade food can be super expensive, so i would encourage you to buy Friskies pate style. do not get chunks, slices, special diet, ect. JUST pate. Turkey and giblets pate, ocean fish pate, chicken pate, ect. This food is cheep, and is one of the only catfoods that have mostly meat in it. Some do have small amounts of rice, which in my option, is the best grain if you have to do grain. Avoid potatoes and other starches. those are NOT good for cats.

Feel free to compare labels on every style, brand and type of canned catfood. you will see that not all the expensive ones are better.

bi-color takes over cats because it can be "on top of" any other coat color.this makes it easy to pass on.

is something making her stressed in that area? fighting with old/new pets? new family member? cats outside? different smells?

you could try moving the couch and putting a post in the spot the couch use to be. you could try feliway spray.some people have luck with it. why didnt the nailcaps work?
