I am so glad that all is better with our Catmom Val and her crew. Change is never easy and usually unwanted, but sometimes it's the best. Everyone is doing great here. #2 grandson, who spent 3 weeks in the NICU last May/June is now well on his way to becoming a denfensive end for the Cleveland Browns. #1 grandson has entered preschool and the teacher says he should skip the 4 year old program and sign up for pre-K. "Ahmi" (me) is not so sure. I taught preschool and know that socialization is just as important as algebraic equations and as much as I love #1, he needs more socialization.

I can't believe our FC niece is 14 months old!! Good Lord!! snoopyhappy danceparty

And happy belated birthday to our Auntie Faye...sorry the Zoo missed it. frown We hope it was a spectacular one!

Hi, evfurone! I know I haven't posted in a loooooong time and I apologize. I need to catch up on what everyone is doing. All goes well here. Grandchildren are fine, all is well.

However, I'm a bit worried about our friend Val (Harvey & company). She posted on FB at what here was about 2AM and said someone needs to call for help, that she can no longer reach the phone. Someone else posted that they were calling for help. I hope that by now, everything has resolved itself and Val is in the hospital and OK.

Please send a prayer. hug

Cat Health > Feline Gallbladder, advice needed!

I have to agree with Rusty. You can google "feline gall bladder" on the 'net, but a lot of times those things can be more scary than helpful and they obviously can't be specific to Simon B.

If you are already spending carloads of cash on Simon, you won't be in for a shock when you do take him into a referral clinic. They are more expensive, but as Rusty says, they are the "creme de la creme" of veterinarians. They have more labs and equipment at their disposal and the whole clinic is made up of board certified specialists.

My own experience with referral clinics has been great. My dog contracted Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis as a young pup and we took her to the Emergency Clinic which was right next door to the Referral Clinic. The doctors at both clinics conferred about what was wrong with Cady and because of their care we had her back within a week, good as new and with a definitive diagnosis and medications. A few years later, my daughter's beloved favorite cat, Sophie, swallowed a foamy puzzle piece, unbeknownst to us. The regular vet did x-rays and couln't determine what that blockage was, if it was a tumor or what. She sent us to the referral clinic where the doctors, through another x-ray, determined that because of the shape (it was perfectly square) that it was probably the puzzle piece. It was their expertise and experience that allowed them to make the correct diagnoses. Because it was a fairly straightforward sugery, the vets at the referral clinic suggested that to save money, we take her (and her x-rays) back to the original vet (her own vet) for the surgery. They told us we didn't need to "pay the frieght" for a board-certified veterinary surgeon for this procedure. The clinic staff called Sophie's vet and explained what they'd found and their diagnoses. The surgery was performed by the original vet and Sophie is now fine and cute and loving as ever!

Be confident that these "super vets" can find out what, if anything is wrong with Baby Simon. It may cost a few more dollars, but in the long run, you will have a definitive diagnoses and needless to say, peace of mind. Keep us updated!!!hug

Hi, Auntie Faye! Iz says to tell you he is feeling better, but still a little off-kilter. It's hot here, too, and I think that may be the reason. None of us feels like doing much. SIL is going back to work this week. He is feeling better, but I think he's enjoying being home with my daughter and the kids just a little too much.

Izzie should be ready to fly down next week after being left Thurs-Monday when we go to visit my son in NC. But then again, he may enjoy having the house all to himself. If any of your kitties get an invitation from him to come up and party those days, let me know, OK? winkwinkwinkwink

Good Grief! Anyone who hangs around THIS Forum for a while is bound to be "not right in the head" (right, Terri?) sooner or later! If you weren't before, this thread will cause it. way to go

All goes well here. Even DH commented that I've been babysittiing "quite a bit" (the understatement of the year). The older hoomin kitteh was with us overnight on Monday, but it was great. He fell asleep on my lap at 7:30 and I had to wake him up at 8AM!!!! I did miss watching Caillou and eating our usual ice-cream sundae though. The baby is doing well, putting on weight and growing.

I may (probably will) be taking one of my daughter's kitties, Bailey. 6 is just too many for her and although 5 are just as much work, I've always had a soft-spot for Bailey--a rescue I worked with years ago---brother of Barnum. I still have a scar on my thumb from Bailey as a matter of fact, when I tried to scruff him out from behind lawn equipment in a shed. The lady assured me he was not feral. shrug OOOOkaaay....thinking Then why did he hook his claw into my finger and try to sink his teeth into my arm? But now Bailey is a sweet kitty who spends most of his day in a bedroom. He does come out when he hears me and gives me gentle pawpats for pets, but only with one hand. He's a really nice looking Tux. I don't mind taking him. I wonder what he'll say about the dogs, though! shock

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Hi, Auntie Faye! SIL is doing better. I saw him yesterday and he seems to be on the road to recovery. I'm sure that being out of the hospital has helped. Thanks for your continued prayers and purrs!

Concats on getting all those kitties fixed! We have Spay/Neuter clinics here, too. There's really no reason for those people across the street not to have their kitty spayed.

Val, I hope you feel better fast. No antibiotics? I remember my first one--we had gone to see "Jersey Boys" on stage and paid about $80 a ticket. Luckily, b/c of hubby, we had handicap seats because I made about 8 trips up and down the aisle going to the restroom. It got to the point where I am sure the usher was going to give me her flashlight and let me escort myself back and forth!

There was a "free kittens" sign across the street from the trailerhood over the weekend. I told my family I am buying a large posterboard and putting "Spay or Neuter Your Pets!" on it to tack on the sign. GRRRRR!!!!!naughtynaughty

Those UTIs are NO FUN!

Yes, Chris is home from the hospital, but still not doing well. I am babysitting today so both my daughter and he can go to the doctor. Even though the nice weather was much anticipated, this is turning out to be a not-so-great summer. Thankfully, the baby is doing very well. Uncle Dave (my son) got to see both kids last weekend and got along famously with the older one, Niko. He even took him fishing at our lake and actually caught a fish! Niko was entranced by Uncle Dave!

Anyone heard from Janice lately? Gosh, I know how this hurts! I still miss my sweet Ernie and even the little terrorist, Lily.

Hi, Aunties. Just wanted to drop by and let y'all know I haven't been abducted by aliens or anything. And, I also wanted to offer my sincere and very heartfelt sympathies to Janice and her furmily. hug I know that my sweet Ernie is up at the rainbow showing BooBoo around.

My new baby grandson is doing very well. He's gained weight is growing out of his preemie clothes. Ahmi (me) has to be dragged, of course, to Babies R Us to buy more little outfits! My SIL was rushed to the hospital when Jacob was barely a week old with pancreatitis and a gall bladder attack. Since he's diabetic as well, they had to do thousands of tests on him. He was in the hospital for 4 weeks and my daughter was on her own with a toddler and a newborn. So, since I'm close-by, I have been getting the call to babysitting quite often. It's not been easy. I had the first panic attack ever last Monday. Not fun. But I'm trying to take it easy and concentrate on myself for a while meditate

Hope all is well with all of you. Photos of Jacob are on my fb page. Just search Joy Walters in Streetsboro Ohio. I'll friend you if you ask!big hug
