Hi Everyone,

There is a lovely cat (Maine Coon) in a high-kill shelter who is scheduled to be killed tomorrow 10/21/10. He has a woman who is interested in adopting him, but she lives in Ohio and does not have airfare to have him flown there. I don't think the rescue groups will pull him unless she has a plan to bring him to her. Does anyone have any ideas???? All ideas are welcome. I am not sure how the Catster Railroad works. Thanks.

Regards,
Barbie (who just realized she logged on to her sister Susan's account)

I love you all. Sagan left at 4:30 today. I'm too heartbroken to talk more right now. I know Anne is with him...but I miss him terribly.

Love,
Susie (Sagan and Anne's mom)hug

Hi dear friends,

I'm not doing too well right now. We don't know what is going on. My breathing is labored and I am sleeping a lot. My third eyelid is up just a little. Aunt Barbie thinks something is not right. Mom is frustrated because she is stuck in So. Cal. until next weekend. Dad is taking me to the vet in the morning. Please turn on the motors for me, I need tons of purrs right now!!!

I love you all!

Quick update on me, Sagan...I have posted the same message in couple of places, but mom is tired so will be copying it here:

I am just popping in for a quick touchbase. I am sorry I have been away so much, but mom has been busy trying to find a new job and has travelled to Florida twice this month and to Seattle last week. By evening, she is totally sick of her computer so won't type for me!!!

My condition is still the same and I am still at Aunt Barbie's house. Mom is taking me to the vet tomorrow to see what else we can do. This is so frustrating and I know my familly misses me. Anyway, I will keep you updated...please keep your paws crossed for me.

I am purring for all the sick kits on the list....Anne is keeping a close eye on you!!

I love you all!

OK
Love,
Sagan

Thank you GOD!!!

and all of you great cats! The purrs did it. It looks like "chronic inflammatory disease of the lungs" ASTHMA!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you....Mom was almost in tears by the time 2pm rolled around and the Doctor started his shift. Sagan's bloodwork looked very good....good kidneys, no infection...slightly elevated cholestoral, which could be related to not having fasted before the test. His heart is slightly enlarged, but not dangerous. The radiologist suggested we get a cytology swab to see if he has an infection. But, Sagan's doctor and I have decided to put him on a bronchiodialator and see if he improves. If not, then instead of jumping to steroids (just in case he does have an infection of some sort), we will do the cytology swab and also a rhinoscopy to look in his nose to see what has been causing his loud breathing all these years.

We are soooo relieved. We know that Asthma is no picnic, Sagan's little human sister has it, but it is WAY better than cancer!!!!!!

Please keep purring that the little pills help and thank you so much for rallying around Mommy....you have no idea how much that helped!

Sagan here: I LOVE YOU ALL!!!

OK
Love,

This is Sagan, Anne's brother.....

So, I have always breathed very loud. My whole life. One doctor said maybe a deviated septum...no big deal. Well, lately, mom and dad have noticed that my breathing seems more labored and fast. Well, mom brought me to the vet for my way over do appointment (I have been really healthy). Mom took me to the vet and we had a chest x-ray...it turned out to be not normal....Mom and Dad are scared to death. The doctor says the radiologist will have an answer tomorrow. He is thinking that I have asthma. Mom and Dad have noticed more "hairball" episodes lately and sneezing, so are hoping and praying for a diagnosis of asthma. PLEASE let this be asthma and not the "C" word. Mom saw the the x-rays and could see the little spots. We will know tomorrow. We are going to need every single one of you purring for this to be asthma. Mom and Dad could not take anything worse this year...after Anne...and I am Sagan..the cat of the house!!! I will keep you updated!!

OK
Love,
Sagan

PS: mom here....this is Sagan the Cat...he is only 12...if it is something bad, I cannot think I could bear this!!! Please purr for Sagan!!!!

Anne is now an angel. We planned to help her to the bridge on Christmas eve...we just couldn't do it. She was comfortable and not in pain, so Mom called the vet to reschedule for Saturday at 2 pm PST. Christmas was good...I (Sagan) didn't move from her side, where I had been for the last week. I cleaned her and purred to her. This morning (Saturday), Anne was so weak she could barely stand. As the morning moved on, she couldn't walk at all. Mom and Dad couldn't stand it, so called the vet and said we were heading in. She still wasn't in pain, just so weak and confused. Mom and Dad got to the vet and snuggled and cuddled with her. She let Mom hold her and didn't wiggle to get down like she always did. She was ready...we all were. Her passing was very peaceful. Mom and Dad were holding her and telling her how much they loved her, how blessed they were to have her with us for so many years. They told her she was their gift. Then she went to sleep, surrounded by love. Mom and Dad could feel all of her angel family and friends in the room waiting to greet here with open paws. The love from everyone on Catster helped so much. All the purs and love....there are no words.

The house seems so strange without her. We will adjust, but 18 years, shy six weeks, with her wonderful self...well, we have all been spoiled. Anne has been our girl for almost all of our adult lives, so it is going to be a huge adjustment. Who is going to sleep with us? Who is going to be our potty pal? We love you Anne, dear heart, an Angel in life and now an angel in heaven...we will will miss you with everything we have.

Anne is going to keep a sharp eye on everyone on the list. She will be the best guardian angel ever.

Thank you all, dear friends, for the love and support you have shown all of us. We couldn't ask for better friends.

Love,
Susie (Mom), Sagan, Anne and the whole familyhug
