BK, you never insult me. I fear my response - OK, the previous one - was a bit abrupt. I found a squishy in my slipper as I was typing and I kinda freaked. My guys like to bring me a lot of gifts, some - never mind, you catch my drift. big grin

Again, slow to read and respond.

BK, I hear you. I was just commenting on the meat supplier. I am well versed in the ratios/supplements to the rawfed. And my husband grumbles every darn time I have to refresh my cat pantry. http://www.catster.com/forums/post.php#

Whooo! Don't do it unless you have to and only for a very limited time.

There is a big difference between protein requiremenbts for cats versus dogs. Cats need a higher protein load. A few nibbles of dog food won't hurt but don't make it a regular thing. Cats are obligate carnivores, dogs are like people - omnivores. They can eat things a cats cannot digest - non plants, veggies, etc. Feed a cat dog food long enough and it will bring about some severe health issues. A cat could literally go blind and develop cardiac issues.

In the old days we used to say that a cat would starve on dog food.

I can't drive far so I tend to stick to WalMart which is about 18 miles away. That's close, trust me.

I can get a 10 lb bag of chix thighs and legs for $5.90. Because I have ssssooo many cats to feed in a day (over 18) that means I make it fresh each day so I don't have to worry about supplements and stuff.

I jus watched a local (if Nashville is regarded as local to areas outside of Nashville) new blurb about Blue Diamond pet foods. Their final comment was do NOT touch it, just return it.

I don't know if this will relate to cats - currently it is just dogs - but I'm just sayin...

I don't have to feed my cats live prey. They hunt and eat it and sometimes offer it to me. Yes, I save snakes, lizards, and chipmunks if I can distract the cats long enough. big grin

It is perfectly natural for a cat to shed whiskers just like fur. There was a couple profiled in "Must Love Cats" that collected all the fallen cat whiskers and, man, did they have a stack.

I do find them on the sofa, my chair, on the floor, under the table. It is just like our hair falling out and since your baby is strong and healthy, I would not worry about it.

I also have a Tasin 108. At first I thought I killed it with overuse but I was wrong. big grin I also use a food processor when need be. I do have a couple of oldsters that need a fine grind, almost puree, food.

Yes, the Tasin is loud but it is fast and easy. Just chunk your meat/parts and drop it in. And if you have any problems, just ask us and check out www.catnutrition.org. Anne has a really nice pictorial on how to use and set it up. Moving on here.

I find it best if I use food that is partially frozen. It handles small bones well (I never go larger than a chix thigh bone). I use the pie-wedge shaped blade mostly for the nice bite sized meat pieces it gives. And speaking of cats and food it is time for me to get grinding. Got 18 hungry felines and 3 "Hounds of the Baskervilles" types. big grin

I can't really add any help to your question but I can tell you that the vets here are notifing pet caregivers that no brand of flea/tick prevention is working this season. The stupid bugs are resistant to it this year. Now we do live in an extremely rural part of TN so our situation is not necessarily yours.
