Cat Health > I have a heart murmur :(
Ray-Ray
Food!?! Where?? |
| Purred: Wed Nov 4, '09 8:00pm PST | | | | | Hi Marley,
I too have a heart murmur. It's an innocent murmur that does not affect my health. I know it's scary to hear that you have a murmur, but don't jump to conclusions until you have had all your blood work and EKG done. I was a little tyke and given up because I had a murmur, which was very unnecessary. But my family came along and took me in just because they know I needed the care.
Mom did research before she got me and found that murmurs can be treated and may not be fatal. That turned out to be the truth in my case. It was well worth the $500 EKG to find out what was going on. I just had my second EKG ( I have them every 18-24 mos) and I'm just fine. Please keep us updated on your progress. Good luck to you!

Cat Health > Broken tooth!!!
Ray-Ray
Food!?! Where?? |
| Purred: Wed Nov 4, '09 7:46pm PST | | | | | Hi there,
Mom and I know about dental surgery from my stomatitis. Most of my teeth have been removed (it's detailed in my diary). I went to a dental vet specialist in Northern Virginia instead of my regular vet for someone more experienced. To find a dental specialist in your area, go to the web page for American Vet Dental College http://www.avdc.org/

Cat Health > Have to hav 4 teeth pulled
Ray-Ray
Food!?! Where?? |
| Purred: Wed Nov 4, '09 7:40pm PST | | | | | Hi Lucy,
I know all about having dental surgery! I had stomatitis and had most of my teeth removed (it's detailed in my diary). We live in Northern Virginia outside of Washington, DC and Mom too me to a vet dentist. We have a great regular vet, but general vets only have a few hours of dental training and most of the cleaning and surgery is done by vet techs. Mom wanted the best for me and took me to the special vet dentist. You can look for one at the web page for American Vet Dental College http://www.avdc.org/
I won't tell you that it's cheap, but the care I received was execellent! And very sucessful too. Ask about payment arrangements. Maybe they can accommodate you. Good luck!

Cat Health > What are the L-lysine side effects?
Ray-Ray
Food!?! Where?? |
| Purred: Wed Nov 4, '09 7:24pm PST | | | | | Hi Amy,
I take L-lysine too and I don't have any side effects from it. Mom and I also second what everyone has said about Science Diet. It's ok you didn't know, we learned by trial as well. Look for a good grain free food. We eat Evo and Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Formula. Changing food has done wonders for my and my siblings' health. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Rescue, Adoption & Happy Endings > Lost a kitten. :(
Milo
Woohoo! Look at- me goooooo! |
| Purred: Sat Oct 31, '09 10:25pm PST | | | | | My mom fostered five kittens last year (there is video on my page of me with the kittens) and we lost one little guy too. Mom was devastated. But he probably would have died alone and with out any love or care, and we saved the rest of his siblings who all got great homes. It was a difficult time, but Mom promised him that she would never, ever give up on helping save kitties. And she hasn't. We know how you feel and we are so sorry for you loss, but hang in there and never give up! | | | | |

Norwegian Forest Cat > Could I be a Wedgie or NFC Mix?

| Purred: Sun Aug 16, '09 10:17pm PST | | | | | Wow, we do look alike! My mom has done more research and she's convinced that I am a Wegie. I have a lot of the physical and personality traits of the breed standard. Until there is a cat breed DNA test we will never be sure. But mom says she loves me no matter what I am! | | | | |

Cat Health > Best dry food for IBD?
Foo
Love me please- :) |
| Purred: Sat Jul 11, '09 6:48pm PST | | | | | Hi there,
I have IBD too. I eat Natural Balance Limited Ingredient wet food but I understand they make a dry food too. I'm not sure how much the dry food costs. My mom has found that while premium food may cost more, we eat a smaller serving of it so it lasts a little longer than a non-premium food making the cost stretch a little more.
There is also Evo dry which is excellent and help with your IBD.

| Purred: Sat Jun 27, '09 6:56pm PST | | | | | Hi there everyone,
Mom is always wondering what I might be. She seems to think that might be NFC or a mix. We don't know too much about me since I'm a rescue kitty. There are pics and video on my page. Anybody have some input on my mom's suspicions? Thanks!

Grooming > how does your cat like his or her nails trimmed?
Ray-Ray
Food!?! Where?? |
| Purred: Sat May 9, '09 7:32pm PST | | | | | Ray-Ray does not like to have his nails trimmed either. I found that the best time to trim his nails is when he is asleep. He usually naps next to me on the couch and I wait until he's in a deep sleep. Ray is slowly getting used to it and will let me trim some when he is relaxed but I don't think we will ever get to the holding for trimming phase. And I'm ok with that. Now I just need to figure out a way to get his sister Harriet's nails trimmed. She *really* does not like to be held and she naps away from the couch. I'm going to have to think of something creative to get hers trimmed! | | | | |
