Cat Health > Vet thinks I may have IBD

Haven't posted in a long time here. Mommy took me for a regular checkup at the vet and the vet was concerned I had lost 1.4 pounds in the last 1.5 years (went from 9.5 to 8.1 pounds). She ran a bunch of labs including thyroid and all were normal except eosonophils. Xrays & ultrasound showed thickened intestines & pancreas walls but no masses in lungs or abdomen. Vet thinks I have IBD. I lost my brother, Oreo, to Hemangiosarcoma 2.5 years ago.

But mommy disappeared for about 2 months unexpectedly from September to November because she broke both ankles and had to live in a nursing home. Us 3 cats lived by ourselves except for about every 2 to 3 day visits from grandpa to give us food, water & change our litter. When mommy isn't around I have been known to fast for days and I sure scolded her when she got back. Mommy also switched us all from Wellness Core Original Dry to Wellness Core Indoor Dry just before she got hurt because Casey was getting a little fat. It is quite a bit lower calorie. I also have a real painful tooth. So mommy thinks that is why I am loding weight. She thinks I seem. To be much more playful now & energetic than I have been in a long time. Vet thinks mommy is in denial.

Vet is recommending prednisolone daily and a low residue high protein diet and sold her Prescription I/D canned food. Is there a food that I might be able to buy at Petco or other pet food store that is low resudue high protein that is just as good or better. How does Wellness Core canned food compare? (Again my main symptoms are weight loss & thickened pancreas & intestinal walls which vet is concluding is IBD.)

I think you are right to charge something for them. They could receive a horrible fate if you just gave them away free. Some people, known as bunchers, pose as people who really want a cat but then turn around and sell them to labs. Some are even willing to pay. You can read more about it in another thread here. Look for the word "buncher" in the thread title.

Love Muffin,
Did you see that your Arizona mommy is posting in the Arizona Kitty forum? You might want to pop on over and say hi to your previous mommy.

I'm so glad Siam found a home and you are considering keeping India! Bibs and I don't think we have ever seen a mouse. Mommy says if we did we would run the other way. That isn't very nice, mommy!
