Cat Health > Hyperthyroidism and borderline kidney disease
Jacks

I yowl,- therefore I am

Hi Goose. I just wrote in my diary about these very problems. I'm also hyperthyroid and early kidney. Kidney diets are great because low protein, phospherous, and sodium, but higher in fat to try and keep weight on us. Royal Canin Renal and SD K/D have been good, haven't tried NF. I hear the Iams kidney diet is also real good.

I'm polydactyl, and it actually looks like I have 2 paws on each front leg. I have 8 toes on one and 7 toes on the other. I'm not dclawed, but I had to get a few claw taken off because they grew funny.

My pomeranian brother has early CRF. He is on an all canned renal diet, and his bloodwork and urine has remained normal ever since. You need to get renal food from the veterinarian.

We are all chipped, but Mom has also tried to put collars on us so people don't mistake us for strays. We all take them off though. Only one kept his on, he has passed on now.

I would start getting them out as soon as possible, it can cause skin problems if left for too long. Just do what you can, and come back to it the next day if you need to.

Food & Nutrition > Can food determine behavior?

Definitely! You are what you eat, and this doesn't just apply to people. If you eat bad, you will feel bad. Food is the ultimate key to your health.
