My wife and I haven't had a tree in years because of our kitties. My wife is due with our daughter on December 1st so I'd love to try a tree again in the next year or two for her. I'm hoping my three youngest kitties will calm down a bit before that but I DOUBT that will happen lol so we'll see how it goes!

Saying Goodbye: Memorials & Support > Grief still so painful for my precious Scraggles

I am very sorry for your loss. I read Scraggle's bio, you are an amazing kitty parent, many people would have given up on Scraggles immediately but you did your best for as long as you could smile I lost Turbo in July, he was only about 13 weeks old, I still remember how hard it was to decide to do what was best for him. I still feel horrible stabs of pain and depression from time to time. Keep hugging the rest of your family, it helped me a LOT to focus on Turbo's sister Tigger and Aunt Pumpkin smile Turbo has since sent his sister TWO brothers to keep her company so everything works out eventually. Hang in there, try to keep busy and enjoy your family smile

Cat Health > Does your vet declaw cats?

I wouldn't let that deter me if I really like the vet and staff, as much as I hate declawing it's sadly quite accepted by most "uneducated" pet owners. I personally doubt I even have a vet in my area that doesn't declaw, and besides if we were to use the moral argument, I personally believe in a grain free diet and 99% of vets sell Science Diet so there would be no vets to go to lol! I personally would make the switch if it's closer, prices are competitive with your old vet and you like the staff smile

I am so sorry for your loss. Watching a loved companion waste away like that and to know the end is coming is such a difficult experience. I'm glad you kept each other company for 14 years, I know it's going to take some getting used to to not have her there now. When you are ready she will send you another kitty who needs you to love them smile

Hi Harriet, welcome to Catster, I see you've been on for a little over a week, how do you like it so far? My oldest kitty Pumpkin also loves to play with toilet paper and also does not listen to humans lol. We walked in after work one day to find Pumpkin sitting in the middle of an entire roll of shredded toilet paper, I have a picture which I just uploaded to her profile smile

Catster Lifestyle, News & Entertainment > Do YOU get nervous going to the VET?

Tigger

I don't get nervous when I take my kitty to the vet but I do feel a LOT of anxiety BEFORE I schedule an appointment. When one of my kitties first starts to get sick or acts odd my anxiety sky rockets while I try to decide if they need to go to the vet and if so will they be able to get in right away, and of course if they get sick on say a Friday night and I have no vet until Monday then I'm super anxious, are they ok until Monday or do I need to go to the emergency vet. Once the decision is made to go to the vet and I have the appointment then I feel better. The only thing I might be nervous about at the vets office is the bill wink

What a beautiful boy. I'm so sorry for your loss, we always feel so helpless as parents whether is was sudden or we see it coming. I enjoyed reading your story about his drop off, if that lady really was dumping him it was her loss and your gain smile I love the name by the way, I live in Hawkeye country, Iowa City, Iowa smile

I agree with the other posters. They are obviously meant for you, their mom brought them to you and after you tried to take them to the shelter they sent them home with you, that's quite a sign! I know finances are a tough thing to grapple with but I find if something is worth it you find something else to cut back on. I recently started transitioning my FIVE pets (4 cats, 1 dog) off of crappy dry food onto grain free wet food and that's definitely changed my pet food budget a bit but we make do and it's worth it smile

As for your older kitty, as someone else said she will secretly like the kittens eventually wink My five year old, Pumpkin is FINALLY starting to not be mean to the three kittens and I even catch her licking or playing with one once and awhile lol. Even if your older kitty never friends with them as someone else mentioned she will probably tolerate them at some point.

I hope everything works out and you have a nice trio of kitties in your family smile
