Cat Health > Drinking and Peeing LIKE... 'BIG TIME'.....?!!
Tambolina

No...the magic- is still- here...!!!

Purred: Tue Jun 18, '13 10:27am PST
It's Jan and Tambolina again.....!!

I told the vet this morning that Tambi drinks 'buckets-full' of water and could be put into the Olympic Games to 'PEE FOR ENGLAND'....!!

So, tomorrow morning I must keep her in and get her to pee in the special cat litter stuff that the vet gave me so that I can get a urine sample to take to him....

I'm a bit worried, have to admit....she is such a dear, gentle, wonderful, naughty little cat....and what with the asthma (please see other thread) I don't want her to be ill in any other way, of course not...!!

Any thoughts...or even just a few kitty-kisses and hugs...would be very welcome...

Cat Health > Cats with Asthma?
Tambolina

No...the magic- is still- here...!!!

Purred: Tue Jun 18, '13 10:15am PST
I took Tambolina to the vets this morning...she has been presenting with what I call 'silent coughing' or 'hitching' in her breathing....

The vet looked her over thoroughly, especially heart and throat and reckons that she has mild asthma.....it doesn't seem to worry her now, but if it gets any worse, I must take her straight back...like rapid...!!

I have looked asthma up on Wikipedia and now have some understanding of it....but there is nothing like hearing from cats and cat-owners who KNOW....!!

I suppose, mainly, at the moment, I would like to know: Is a cat with mild asthma GOING TO GET WORSE? and if so, are there good treatments?

Any thoughts would be welcome....

Cat Health > My Baby Has Colon Cancer

RADDY (my- heart's- darling)

I am still my- Meouwmy's- Beloved....

Purred: Mon Jun 10, '13 3:46am PST
Dear Megan....obviously I cannot tell you how it is going to go for your little catperson...but I can tell you a little of my cat's story which might help....don't know.....

My cat, Grandad Joseph Conrad, had colon cancer...I think it must have been very aggressive, because I always watch all my cats 'like a hawk' to make sure that things are going well for them....but I did not pick up on his illness until he only had a short time to live....(he was nearly 18 - too old for surgery)...

Anyway...we had people from New Zealand staying for a month....and Conrad was dying...and I COULD NOT let him die until the people were gone and I could be with him properly......so, the vets were lovely.....and they gave him an anti-inflamatory, steroid injection every Friday....and it 'perked him up' enough to keep going for a little while....

And he was still himself, and he still loved me and the Tambolina....and Tambolina and I took turns staying with Conrad, in the end bedroom....for, indeed, his world had shrunk down that far....(I tried to get him out for some fresh air, but he ran back in again).....

The people went (on the Thursday, I think) and I made arrangements for the vet to come out on the next Monday to help me to help Conrad to the Bridge....but I took him down for his steroid injection on the day after the people had gone.....and he wouldn't have it.....(he was always a wild, wild, animal) So we left it but the arrangement was still that the lady-vet would come to my home on the Monday....seemed good, seemed fair...it gave me time to be with him alone to say my own goodbye (without visitors there)....

But it all went to pot...!! Without the steroid injection Conrad got so rapidly worse....but I couldn't let him go...!! I couldn't take him to the horrible vet surgery, where somevet who did not know him and whom he did not know would kill him.....I couldn't do it....

So the poor sod (and me and the male human) had to suffer over three days before the vetlady came, on the Monday morning...and the jobbie was done....and Conrad rode off on the Mighty Merkel, into ancestry, wearing Auntie Miss Lillie's best red bonnet....!!

Megan....you might find SOMETHING of use to you from the above...hope so....

All best love to you...

Cats and a Clean Home > How do you do you kitty litter?

Tambolina

No...the magic- is still- here...!!!

Purred: Sun Jun 2, '13 7:02am PST
Dear Fuggles and Fuggles's Meouwmy....I am presuming that you are both American...so I will not go through the list of possible types of kitty-litter you can get here, in England....

But I will tell you how I organise my cats'toilets...it seems to be a bit different from how most people do it (going by what I have just read on this thread)....may be good?/may be bad? don't know.....

I have four cats and (therefore) four dirt trays around the house....I use a medium-cheap litter, and they seem happy with it (although I would rather get the best...but...)...

Now this is the difference from what everyone else has been saying....I put two sheets of newspaper in each box and a small amount of cat litter...(I learned this from the lady who owns the cattery I used to go to)....I change all the boxes three times (or more...depending...!!) a day....I pick up the newspaper by the corners...straight into the rubbish bin....and a new set of newspaper pages and a bit of litter in the box.....!! It works very well for my cats and for me...but perhaps not for everyone.....

What I LOVE is that each cat has its favourite dirt tray....and they KNOW when I am going to clean the trays....and THEY WAIT....until they can go to the loo in a clean tray....!! Tambi pees and poos outside in the mornings, and then has her last pee in the box next to the fridge at 10.00pm every night....freaky, eh? AND she waits until I have taken the newspaper and litter out and made it fresh and clean for her....!! Jim uses the one in the hall....generally at about 11.00pm at night....he is the one I worry about, because he is liable to get those 'stuvite crystal' thingies....so when he has peed I can relax and say: 'good boy, Jimmy, good boy - such a clever boy'.....and he says: 'Pleeeasseee Meouwmy...I am not a retard...!! You want me to pee? I pee....!! OK?'

Cat Health > Cancer....Need to Talk
Tambolina

No...the magic- is still- here...!!!

Purred: Fri May 24, '13 2:48am PST
Dear Cinders and Cinders' Meouwmy....Jan here...!! I know I told you stuff that might help you if the worst happens, in an earlier post....and that all still stands, if (or when) you need that sort of help.....

HOWEVER like Morganna's Meouwmy says....I, too, took my Mambi to the vet(on the Wednesday), deeming it was time....and he said: 'No, not yet' and he gave her an injection....I took her home and she was SO LIVELY and LOVELY, and on the Thursday she came into the bathroom with me while I had a bath and she looked at me, bright eyed, and I sang to her and she played a little...and it was SO PRECIOUS - that ONE PRECIOUS AND LOVELY DAY....it was a gift (I don't know who from)..and she went to Rainbow Bridge the next day, on the Friday....but that one day - that Thursday - I have put in my magic jewellery-box - it was only one day - but it was (somehow) the whole of a life's loving (Mambo was 18)packed into a few hours.....in my magic jewellery-box it is a saphire...a beautiful deep blue stone....with Mambi at the heart of it.....

Sorry, I got carried away there.....but Cinders and Cinders' Meouwmy....perhaps it helps a bit?....just to know about other peoples' and pussycats' suffering and the ways they try to come to grips with it.....

Best love to both....sorry, no piccie of Mambi....it was so long ago...but she was black and long and thin and FEISTY.....

Cat Health > Cancer....Need to Talk

RADDY (my- heart's- darling)

I am still my- Meouwmy's- Beloved....

Purred: Tue May 7, '13 3:09am PST
Dear Cinders' Meouwmy.....Hi...it is Janet here....I thought when you started writing this thread that it would come to this for Cinders....but, and I do know, you've got to try as much as you can to see if you can make it better (that seems to be the FIRST thing you have to do).....the SECOND thing you have to do is to start a process of acceptance in yourself (and it does come)....the THIRD thing is to BE WITH YOUR ANIMAL-FRIEND when the vet helps them to go to Rainbow Bridge....with my cats that I have seen over the Bridge, I cuddle them, put my nose to their nose and sing to them....have to tell you that in my experience they go easily....also, I think, if you can be left to cuddle and stroke when they are gone...I think it would help...when Conrad went over the Bridge, the vet took him away from me too quickly afterwards...the FOURTH thing is to do what seems good to you for their (and your) rite of passage (THE RITE OF PASSAGE IS VERY IMPORTANT AND CAN BE HEALING)....I can give you some good hints and tiny bits of (possible) wisdom from my own experience, if you would like? Let me know, if you wish, and I can paw mail you.....the FIFTH thing to do, I have found...and this is only my experience...write...write...about Cinders...from Cinders...do her a diary page or a blog...about her or from her or answering in her name to questions and answers.....The Ancient Egyptians (who...ehhhhh - by the way -...also 'worshipped cats') believed that if your name was seen and was spoken, you would live on.....so continue to speak her name?

So much love to you and to Cinders....so much love....
