Been a long while since I've been active here, but once upon a time , this place was an internet "home" of sorts. Loved interacting with fellow cat (and dog) owners, seeing your stories, sharing your grief when a special pet passed.

So I thought it'd be appropriate to drop by and say "farewell".

Royal Canin has a bunch of prescription diets that are both GI and FLUTD compatible (their SO Index.)
I know prescription diets aren't ideal, but they're formulated specifically for FLUTD, and FLUTD isn't something you want to mess around with.

Cat Health > diagnosed with hyperthyroidism

Hi Gizmo! I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid a few months ago. I've always had some problems with constipation, but the vet said that my hyperthyroid just added to the problem.

You might want to consider getting one of those automated pet drinking fountains. They encourage more drinking, and more drinking means you're better hydrated, which means less prone to being constipated! Canned food is also a better idea than dry food.

You could also try canned pumpkin, or Laxatone (which vets sell). My person also keeps stock of Lactulose as prescribed by the vet to help me when she sees I haven't pooped a lot.
best of luck!

Hi anonymouse !
I've had problems with "that crystal chick" too and my human found something out: I never really liked to drink that much, but she bought me this really neat stainless steal automated pet fountain, and guess what? I love it! I drink out of it all the time.
Since canned food isn't your favorite, it's doubly important to have plenty of water. A pet fountain might help you too like it did me cheer

Merlin: I think I'm just sensitive to food, in general. I have poo problems too. So far so good on the RC SO. shh

After my first blockage, my human fed me Wellness canned- but I ended up blocking again. Not once, but twice.

Now I'm on the prescription Royal Canin Urinary SO (canned), plus a cat fountain. I know it isn't the best, but I had three blockages and a few bouts of cystitis, so my human doesn't want to take any chances.
