My Mommy's sister's dog had puppies and she was selling them and then her sister (my auntie) asked if she could buy one just as a joke. Mom fell for it though. She got to name me, play with me and show me love. Then auntie told her it was just a joke and they were never even getting a dog both of them got really sad about it because we have been wanting a dog after Leo died to keep us company. Then my aunt said, "Hey, why not we have enough money for him, and the little guy is desperate!" Mom said, "Hey sure, why not! Come here Maximilian!!" I barked with joy as she took me home, a little Barbet as happy as ever-best day EVER!!!! cloud 9

Me too! My Momma was lonesome an decided she needed somethin warm and furry to keep her company, so she went lookin for a pup to be her friend. She found the Small Paws Rescue site and sent them an e mail. I was in a shelter in Kentucky just about to run out of time when SPR found me. I got rescued on my last day....ya know "Just-in" time, so the nice lady who saved me named me Justin. I went to Ohio to stay with a couple of wunnerful foster parents who tooked good care of me till Momma found me. Then I got on a plane and flewed clear cross the whole country to be with Momma. My Gram is the one who decided I should be called J.R.....that is short for Justin Rogers. That is my official name, but my whole name will always be Justin Small Paws.

Uncle Kevin decide that mommy needed a pup of her won to raise that wouldn't bother her allergies and that was small and fuzzy . So he did lots and lots of research to find a breed that was sturdy b/c mommy is a bit of a klutz,. So he found Bichon would be the best. So he found a breeder in KY and IN first they all came Mommy Uncle Kevin and Grandma to look at me I went right up to mommy I pushed my sibling away all my siblings had been adopted and there was just me and my brother and he was on hold for another family. so they said they would think about went to look at the other Bichon and came back for me I kind of won mommy's heart. Plus Uncle Kevin said I was a gift for mommy just b/c. i was 8 weeks old when I came home and have been attached to mommy ever since.

Mom and me don't know why my firstest family put me in the county shelter. But when Mom came lookin' for a dog, she wanted me....but I was already spoken for, so she took another dog home. The other dog was bigger, and attacked anybody who came near Mom...even her grandsons. She wanted a little fluffy dog who loved everybody, so she took the other dog back and cried because it didn't work out. She went back to the shelter a couple of weeks later, and took two of her grandons with her so she could find a dog who liked kids, too. All the dogs were huge, and Mom was about to give up, when one of the ladies said "What about Itchie? He's at the PetSmart." So Mom asked if it was the same Itchie who was there before, and why was he brought back. They said a really old man had adopted me, and he couldn't take care of me. So off they went to PetSmart! I jumped all over the boys and kissed and smooched all of them. A real lover-boy just like Mom wanted. I'm not little (30 lbs), but I am fluffy, and I love everybody. I try to kiss everybody I meet, but Mom still tries to keep me from jumpin' on them. I guess after all the tryin' out new owners and dogs, it was just meant to be. We've been together almost 6 years now, and she spoils me and my sisfur Roxie rotten. I'm so glad she wanted me more than all those other dogs, and came lookin' for me a 2nd time. Itchie

My story is kinda sad. I had a family that loved me and took good care of me. Then the economy went bad and they couldn't take me to the vet or groomers, and they had to move in with relatives. The relatives had a few big dogs that jumped all over me and chewed on my ears. They were really mean to me. Then my family got a new place to live, but they weren't allowed to have pets, so they left me with the mean dog family. Another relative felt sorry for me, and took me home, but couldn't keep me either. They got me groomed (shaved down, yuck) and called a rescue group to see if they could find me a good furever home. My new Mom had retired and thought she had enough time, plenty of room, and enough love to rescue a 2nd dog. She already had smoochie Itchie. She saw my picture on Petfinder, and put in an application. She says the rescue group was really strict, with a 2 page application, a phone interview, and a home inspection. But after everything I'd been through, I'm glad they made sure I could have a home where I'd be safe and happy and FUREVER. Mom went to the foster lady's house and I was a little shy, but she took me home (hooray). So here I am with Mom and Itchie, and I've had 4-1/2 years of love and spoilin'. Even tho Itchie still doesn't like to share, he's not mean about it. He'll take my toys and get between me and Mom sometimes, but she's got two pettin' hands and there's plenty of toys to go around. I've learned how to get my toys back, and sometimes steal them from him now. And there's plenty of cuddle time, too! Nothin' like a furever home, right? Roxie

Mom and Dad lived in Phoenix at the time. Mom wanted Neksi to have a companion because Cuki II had gotten sick and died. So Mom went onto PetFinder and looked at Bichons. There was a photo of me sitting next to a yard gnome. I was a tiny 8 weeks old.
Mom phoned the rescue lady who lived in Prescott Valley (that's where our 1st home in the mountains was). Linda told Mom she could bring me to Phoenix for Mom to meet.
Grandma and Mom met me and I was so tiny that Mom couldn't bend over to pet me because of her bum hips. She sat down and I ran up to her. Linda gave me my furry furst bath in the kitchen sink and I got all fluffy and white.
Love at furst sight.
Mom asked Linda to "foster" me for awhile because I was too tiny to take home to Neksi the rabbit huntress.
At 16 weeks Linda was making a trip to Phoenix for the spay/neuter clinic (shudder at the thought) and asked if she could introduce me to Neksi. Well, as soon as Neksi met me she 'dopted me as her furry own puppy and I was home furever.
Neksi and I still bonded closely, though Zuri has taken over being her puppy and tormenting her.

Daddy, one day out of the blue, said to Mom, "I know what our next dog is. A Pharaoh hound!"
What! Dad was picking out a breed and a rare one at that. Mom had to ask how he knew about PHs. I was watching the AKC show on TV and they are cool dogs.
What! Dad was watching AKC dog shows on his own. He was turning into a doggy daddy.
Mom went on line and did her research and decided the kennel she wanted information from was Rita Laventhal's in Florida because she had brought the breed into the USA from England with another breeder back decades before. Rita told Mom she had two available dogs, a 6-month-old male or a "cherry" 2 1/2-year-old female. Mom asked Dad and he said he'd think about it. Mom told him to stop being analytical and think with his heart. He said, "the female."
Mom wrote the check and mailed it and she and Rita began the process of sending me to Arizona. I got left on the tarmack in South Carolina, the 1st leg of the trip. What Mom went to the airport to get me I was no where to be found. Rita had been shipping dogs for 50 years and had never had one lost. Well, after 16 hours in the crate, I finally arrived late that night in Phoenix. Rita told Mom and Dad to be very careful when the crate door was opened because I would probably bolt. Nope. I ran right into Mom's arms and have never wanted to be anywhere else since.

I was a bit of a surprise see Uncle Kevin said he was going to get a big dog first an Akita then a Malamute then a Husky well Mommy and grandma thought he was kidding b/c there was already 2 furs in the house that was kind of old. (12 year old Keeshound &14 year old Pug) next thing you know Uncle Kevin walks into the house with me . BOL Mommy took one look at my feet and said I was going to be BIG. First I was supposed to be Uncle Kevin's dog but with him going to college he couldn't be home to take me to the vet or train me so he said I was a family fur so then mommy kind of took over from there. I loved my fursiblings I thought they was fun to play. I came home at i think about 8 weeks old just in time for Halloween and the pumpkin that was on the front porch was bigger then me but I soon grew. I did have lots of "issues" as a pup esp after my fur siblings crossed the bridge I did not like it be home alone at all. Now i don't mind it.
