I am heading to a new hospital tomorrow morning..I haven't been home since Tuesday....meowmy is so scared....

she misses me at home and from all that she's read..this surgery should not be as scary as meowmy thinks its going to be...

she would love any reassuarance that it will be fine and that I should be good as new...

Hi, Oreo,

First, Mommy says you're quite a handsome guy! Do you have any sisters for me?

Second, how are you feeling and how are you recovering? Mommy says she knows how scary this can all be for an older gentleman.

My brother Einstein, who went to the Bridge long before I came along, had calcium oxalate bladder stones and had his PU surgery when he was around 11 years old. I am her first experience with struvite stones, but this process can be scary at any age. Please let us know if you need anything.

Hi Thomas...tell your meowmy thank you for thinking I am handsome...tee hee hee...

I have other brothers and sisters..but they came from different places..so I am the only one who looks like a cow... smile

anyway....I am doing very well....I am peeing and eating and healing....last night meowmy did put some stuff on my hiney as she thinks it's getting red from the urine...since I am not allowed to clean myself properly right now...this cone on myhead I do tolerate....but gee whiz...I can't wait to nothave to wear it..meowmy keeps telling me soon I will no longer have to..

Our biggest concern right now is what to feed me..she bought some Friskies canned food which is suppose tomaintian the ph in my urine...but meowmy really prefers to buy better brand stuff.(she doesn't like feeding me anything with the word "by-product" in the ingreds.) ..so we really aren't sure what to do...the dr. said the food I use to always eat would be fine...Natural Balance Green Pea & Duck...but meowmy wants me to eat wet canned food now mostly..as she heard that would be better for me....

Thanks so much for asking about me....what kind of food do you eat??

Glad to hear you're well on the road to recovery!

The vet gave me Hill's s/d to eat for one month, then they want me to eat Hill's c/d as my regular diet after that, as my crystals are struvite. But Mommy is looking into some less expensive alternatives. There is a food thread on this group page, and several kitties have said the Friskies Special Diet wet food is a good choice. Did your vet determine what kind of stones/crystals you have?

Mommy also got some good advice when this first happened. A fellow Catster told her not to give me tap water because it is full of minerals. Our tap water here is so high in mineral content that it is sometimes brown when it comes out of the tap. Mommy currently has me on filtered water, and I think it's helping. Distilled water is another option.

Again, we're thrilled to hear that your recovery is going well. Keep us posted on your progress!

Thomas
