Hi all!

I wanted to post this here. This is a link to John Dean's website and a list of all of the Senators and Representatives who have publicly announced that they will support a public option. You can check and see if your lawmakers are on there and either thank them if they are, or annoy them if they aren't. Despite all of this talk about "60" votes needed to pass the bill, that simply isn't true. All it takes is 51 votes in the Senate, and the bill has that. 220 Reps and 51 senators have come out in support of a public option. Mom is much more hopeful now than she was before. Cheers!

Correction, this is from HOWARD Dean's website. Oops! I'm always getting their names mixed up.

LOL @ mixing up Howard Dean with John Dean.

The 51 number is for a special kind of bill called a reconciliation bill, and it's debatable whether or not the health care reform legislation is that kind of bill. I've heard rumors that the Senate may try to split the bill, and pass the stuff that everyone agrees on as one bill under normal rules, and then put the public option in a separate bill and try to pass that as a reconciliation bill. The one thing we need to do: contact your Senators and Representative and tell them you support the public option.

Reform without a public option is not reform. Tell your senators and representatives that you really do want reform -- not just a re-hashing of the same old ideas.
