Thanks for the invite, Mr. D, and please call me Biggie. I was 17 lbs when adopted, but I was put on a strict diet and am now 12 lbs. For some reason, I'm still called Biggie...although somehow "Biggie" has morphed into "Binks." 'Nother story for another day...
Here's my problem: I blocked late last week, was diagnosed with struvite crystals, spent the weekend with a catheter at the vet's (getting my bladder flushed) and have been home since Monday. The vet opted to forgo PU surgery, as I was no longer blocking. I'm on Clavamox (twice a day) and phenoxybenzamine (once a day).
Although I'm not blocked, I'm now peeing all over the place. The amount is about a half shot glass' worth (Mommy told me to use a "universal" measure.). I'll do this for several hours before settling down for a nap.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or maybe someone could suggest a remedy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your vet might be able to give you medication to relax your bladder (and you) a little, to make peeing less irritating. You may still be sore from the blockage. You may also be making a mental association between your litterbox and the pain of your blockage. This can take a little while to go away.
There are several drugs used for this purpose, including Valium and amitriptyline.
Good luck, buddy, and I'm glad you got unblocked without the ultimate surgical solution!

Thanks for the info. We didn't think of the "association" aspect of all this, that the litterbox is a source of anxiety, and we truly apprecaite that you brought this to our attention.
We had been giving him phenoxybenzamine to reduce spasms, but it seemed to make him lethargic and I don't know if it aided in reducing his spasms.
But here we are a few days later, and things seem to have returned to normal...peeing a reasonable amount and in the right place, playing at will, fussing at the humans at meal time, etc. Let's hope it stays that way!
And thanks, again, for your insight! You're one smart kitty

Frankly, I took so many different kinds of meds for my problems, I can't remember them all - I just remember the various symptoms.
And thanks for the compliment, but I'm not so sure about the "smart kitty" part - really it's just "experience". And now you've got it too.
Head bonks,
Cow!Cat

| Purred: Tue Oct 13, '09 11:07am PST | | | | | | Just wanted to give an update!
I seem to be back to normal. I'm finally peeing a normal amount at normal intervals and only going in my litterbox. I have my own special food, too. And it's wet food, which my brothers LOVE, but can't have.
Hope all my new FLUTD friends are doing well. Thanks for everyone's suggestions and helpful comments!
