Oh that sounds good Orangie. My mom said that when she was a little girl in Catholic school, all the kids would say that black patent leather shoes reflected your underwear. laugh out loud Mom was always nervous going up the steps too because the boys seemed to have a big fixation on looking up skirts.

laugh out loud Ma wishes she could have gone to a private, Catholic school. Closest one is an hour away, and it's only through 8th grade. shrug

Have any of you read Anne Rice's book Called Out of Darkness about her heartfelt return to the Catholic church of her youth? It is really a remarkable book. And for all of us who wish we had been in Catholic schools, back in the old days, her description of growing up Catholic in New Orleans before Vatican II gives us a glimpse of how wonderful it must have been. Now that she is a Re-Vert she is telling her story - and she is a very fine writer. God has sure changed her life. (Mom is reading this book now.)

There is a move called The Devil's Advocate with Keanu Reeves, Al Pacino, and Charlize Theron, but I don't know if it would be the same one. The main guy is a lawyer and the devil tries to take his soul because he's his son?

Oh it is not the same one! The devil's advocate in the book is the priest who is brought in to investigate the claims of someone that the people want to see made a saint. He is on the side of "no" while another priest is on the side of "yes" But what unfolds is such a panoply of relationships, characters, conversions, truths....it is a remarkable book. It takes place in Southern, rural, Italy where the people are very poor and the parishes mostly forgotten by Rome.
