VERY good question! I have ALWAYS wondered about this!! I'm seeing my vet in a week and will ask but hopefully we'll all hear sooner about barfing and whether or not the medicine had time to get into our system and if we need to get pilled again.

When that Diltazim drug was making not a happy kitty, mom made sure to hide our food for a few hours to make sure the intake of food didn't make me barf the food and pills (again, not sure how fast they dissolve).

Good question!!!

My Meowma is concerned that putting the pills in my treats or pill pockets could result in a food aversion. Anyone have any thoughts?

Frasier has spent the last 2 days in the ER. We just got him home today. Somehow he got an infection in his gums and it went to his heart. He has been on iv antibiotics and now on pills 3 times a day for the next 2 weeks at least. I am so upset cuz we just had him checked out 3 months ago and were told he needed a cleaning but we could wait 6 months to do that. I guess its just one of those things. I did learn something new that I wanted to share will you all. I know we are all scared to have our heart babies sedated to have their teeth cleaned. For the most part Frasier deals with gingivitis. That can be taken care of by antibiotics. So every 3 months he will go on that for 2 weeks and therefore will give us more time between teeth cleanings. I hope that may be some new info for some of you. If there are any other suggestions please let me know.

Thank You - Frasier worried Mommy thinking

I'm very difficult to pill...possibly the most difficult cat in the world MOL! It would literally take 3 people, one to restrain me, one to get my mouth open and one to put the pill in. I literally will start to fight as if for my life if people start trying to do things to me that I don't like! This is not good for stress levels, which we are trying to keep to a minimumsmile
Currently I'm taking frusemide and Fortekor. The frusemide is pretty easy as it's so tiny and seems to be tasteless, mum puts that in a little spoon of tuna and I eat it. They Fotekor has proved to be more difficult. For some reason, the drug company seems to think that vanilla should be palatable to cats...vanilla ice cream maybe, but not vanilla flavoured pill! After trying and failing to hide the pill in several foodstuffs, (was successful with little balls of cheese one time but wouldn't go for that again) I'm now willingly eating the pill, crushed in a pea sized amount of butter (not real butter, olive oil spread). The vet told my mum not worry about me eating a blob of butter as just getting the pill into me was more important at the moment. Also, if I decide I'm not going to eat the pill in butter, mum will wipe it on my leg and observe me lick every bit off, so she seems to be onto a winner with that method at the moment.

Hmmm the butter idea is a good one wink

Besides getting the pill, you may have fewer hairballsway to go
