**Never** give Centrine, to an HCM cat. Its an
antispasmodic, normally given to a cat with diarea. Its a
little white pill, it will kill an HCM cat.

You have to question any medication, given to a normal
cat, it does its job, but may be harmful/deadly to an
HCM cat. smilesmilesmile

Very true Bumpurr. I was prescribed Prednisone as a part of my chemo protocol. Mama was unaware that heart kitties shouldn't take steroids because of the fluid retention side effect. I went into congestive heart failure twice because of it.

Be very very careful friends. Check out everything before giving it to your kitty (both meds & supplements).

Metronidazole can be given to an HCM cat, its for the GI tract, if there
is an infection/inflamation, similar to if they are throwing up or diarea.

But each cats condition/grade is different, and you should always consult
with your vet for any treatment/meds, as what work for or is safe for one
cat, may not be for another. smilesmilesmilebig grinbig grinbig grin

Dear Sally Maria,
Thanks to you! Meowma read your post and it probably saved my life! My vet is wonderful but forgot about cardiomyopathy and steroids, and suggested steroid therapy for my decreased appetite. Instead I'm taking Cyprohepatadine and it's already working.

wow, this is not something I knew either. I just took Frasier to the vets for allergies and he was given steroids. I am going to have to call the vet back and see if there is anything else that Frasiercan take.

what about eye drops? I think that the ones Tig got may have prednisone in them to bring down the itching in his eyes. Can that affect him?
