We're taking up two big cages at PetSmart. Since Meowmie is already going up everyday she's also been taking the two youngest fluffballs 8-9 weeks to set up in a day cage as well. Tonight one got adopted We'll take the lonely little girl up tomorrow night and hope fur the best. Despite the low risk of passing FIV/FeLv to any others the youngest are kept seperate until they are tested at 12 weeks so little girl has a lonely few weeks unless she's adopted. Evfurrybody else already tested negative. We also have a few adults waiting on these kittens to get adopted so they can have their cages and a couple more kittens who can't go cause they're sick or unsocialized. Wish us luck, only two more days.......
Got two more adopted today, the two dilute calicos from 7-Up. They went to two different families, but thats ok, they didn't like eachother too much anyway. Tomorrow is the last day of the adopting week fur us. We really hope the other kitten from Double Trouble gets adopted. She is too young to be combo tested so she stays in a cage all by herself and is really lonely. Christmas and New Year's week will be really short, only Sun & Mon, then the adoption prices are going up to $100 so it'll be that much harder to get anyone adopted. We really hope to get three or four more adopted soon, then maybe I'll be a little happier.
How did it go Coco?? We are always purring for adoptions.
We had one adopted out of our house on Tues. The lady got Mama's number on Sun. at Petco, but the kitty she wanted was adopted. She came over and fell in love with his brother/cousin. (We had 2 different litters from the same farm).
On the downside, we took in 3 more this week. We got a flamept. Siamese Mama cat who either has a skin condition or has been eaten up by fleas. She look HORRIBLE !! She came in with her "kitten" who is 5 mos. old and is in perfect shape. We suspect that Mama was kept outside in the garage where the people found her over 5 mos. ago, and the kitten was kept in. We also got a single kitten that someone found in their yard yesterday. She is all hissy & spitty until you get ahold of her. Mama even had her purring last night.
We are purring for lots of adoption this weekend. We may even be at Petco on X-Mas eve.
Quincy, our Mom will be at Petsmart Christmas Eve, not for adoptions but to feed and play with the kitties in the Luv A Pet center. They are all ours, and the regular volunteer that goes in on Wednesdays to do this has plans.
Mom is on "baby watch" with her human daughter so she's not going out of town this year to see her own mom and thought Christmas Eve with kitties sounded just about purr-fect.
Besides, this is the season of miracles, and maybe someone will come in to adopt while she's there - that has happened before. Last winter she went in to feed and clean cages and ended up doing four adoptions!
Hi Sara,
We agree that X-Mas Eve with the kitties would be Purrfect. Mama is volunteering at the adoption center, but is hoping to get some kittens to Petco. She should be able to drop off, but someone else is going to have to pick them up. Mama hopes they ALL get adopted this weekend so she doesn't have to take any on X-Mas Eve.
(Keep dreaming Mama!!)
Two was it fur the week, we go back to PetSmart Sunday and Monday. We're reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeellypurring to get a bunch of adoptions, maybe all 10??? Ya Meowmie's dreaming. She's gonna have to pack up alot that didn't get adopted on her trip to FL for new years so the petsitter isn't overloaded
We have our first litter since the Blossoms and Seamus, two girls and a boy. I usually wait until an entire litter is over two pounds before returning them, but right now we are in the middle of the worst kitten season our shelter director can remember. They are euthanising on admission because everywhere is so full.
I think Dasher will go back this week for his snip snip, as he is over 2 pounds now. The girls are still too light. We're only supposed to have 3 fosters at a time, but for some weird reason we can get away with more if they are different ages and from different litters. This way at least we can get one more litter out of harms way.
Good for you Suey!! Baby kitties heal the soul. Getting new fosters was the only thing that really helped Meowmy cope with her loss of Autumn''s litter of kittens (we just didn't expect soooooooo many). We all hope it does the same fur your Meowmie.
Mama of Pumpkin Patch fiiiiiiiiiiiiinally got adopted today Meowmie just looked at her calendar and found that Mama and two boys have been going to PetSmart evfurry week fur almost 4 months. This is furry bad fur the boys cause now, at 6 months old, they almost look like adults now. They are so social and sweet we are sad they haven't been adopted yet. No one seems to want orange kitties lately. They have been at my house since August so I'm gettting really tired of them. They are the only fosters allowed in the main house with us since they have been here so long. I really hope they get adopted tomorrow, Sunday, or next Monday. I don't want to go on vacation with them!!!
Autumn got adopted!!!!! That's TWO adults in only a two day week. Hooray!! I reeeeeeelly hated Autumn. I trapped her in all the corners of the house and growled and hissed and fought with her. I always won cause I have extra claws and she had none. Meowmie had to keep us seperate by the end. I'm sooooooo glad she got her OWN house!!
