First off let me apologize, as I am in CA and just read this off another animal group I am on, but I thought I would try to help by posting in a Florida Group and maybe getting this horse some help before it's too late. Please forgive me if I am not allowed to do this, but we are all animal people here, right?

Here is the post;

**Please RE-post*****

I just caught this on the news. A brown horse has been laying in a field in Geneva, Florida (Seminole County, near Orlando) starving and dehydrating to death. Neighbors are extremely concerned, and have called Animal Control (AC) many times. AC would do nothing! WFTV (Chanel 9 eyewtiness news), received pictures from a 14yr old kid neighbor, begging them for help. WFTV sent out a reporter, and caught the horse on tape and aired it on the 11pm news tonight. The horse is laying in the middle of the field and can't get up. WFTV also called AC. AC finally sent out an officer, but the officer would not go onto the land without the property owner's permission (owner is an 80ish yr old man and apparently wasn't home).

A neighbor said he thought about shooting the horse, just because he didn't want to see it suffer anymore!

This lack of action on the part of AC is ridiculous. Fl law specifically states that AC can go onto the land and even confiscate the horse. According to Fl Law 828.073 (2)(A): "(2) Any law enforcement officer or any agent of any county or of any society or association for the prevention of cruelty to animals appointed under the provisions of s. 828.

03 may:
(a) Lawfully take custody of any animal found neglected or cruelly treated by removing the animal from its present location" AND "Nothing herein is intended to require court action for the taking into custody"

Please, please, please email and CALL Seminole County AC, and ask them to take action.

Ask them why they left that horse to suffer for so long, even though Fl law allows them to take it into custody without court action!

Their phone number is 407-665-5110 or 407-665-5201.

Their website is http://www. seminolecountyfl. gov/dps/ansrvs/index. asp
Their email address is mlake@seminolecountyfl.gov

Please take action NOW! Show them that their apathy towards animal suffering will not be tolerated. Their jobs are to protect these animals and confiscate when necessary. They are given strong laws to use, but aren't using them.

Please contact them and ask them to take action to save this horse....if he isn't already dead!
