I've had Mr.Jaken and MissyMomma on BlueBuffalo SpaSelect dry kibble for awhile now and they've always liked it from the get. It's good stuff and "flash" cooked to keep the vitamins in there and it contains extra antioxidants and stuff--"LifeSourceBits" they call them--but the point is, you guys, they EAT it.

When i talked to L'ilWinston's breeder a couple hours before i went to pick him up and bring him home, of course i asked what she had been feeding him and what i should pick up at the store for him.

Well, to make a long story short, she said "by nature" food was the best--organic, no soy, no wheat, etc.etc.ad nauseum-- and basically i came away from the call feeling something seriously akin to an incompetent and rather ignorant cat owner.

But of course, as you've probably all guessed, there i was-- running out into more than annoying rush-hour traffic to stock up on everything "by nature"--the raw pouches, the cans, the kitten dry.

And wouldn't you know it.

Not only did Jake&Mia turn away and scratch the floor as if in the litter box upon the multiple bowls, but L'ilWinston took one bite of the wet can bowl and walked away.

After leaving everything out for a few hours and it going bad in the bowl, i regretably dumped it all and started trying to mix Friskies wet into a smaller percentage of the "by Nature".

No go.

Same total lack of desire on each cats' part.

So finally, after Mr.Jaken complaining in my face every chance he got, i broke out the Friskies Shredded and EVERYBODY came running.

All bowls cleaned out, everybody fat and lazyblink and slow rythym tail sway in leisurely post meal mode.

What a waste!

Has anyone had any success with "by nature"?
I wish i had just trusted my own instincts as far as Blue-dry/Friskies/wet, instead of wasting so much money on this unappetizing food.

I have a bunch of it and i guess i'll donate it to the nearest shelter but i'm kinda scared they won't touch it either.

What do you guys think of the no soy/no wheat organic thing ? Does anybody actually eat the stuff? Maybe even LIKE it?

It's just weird.

My guys are so...so...."Downhome", i guess!

In our household it's Royal Canin Indoor 27 for kibble

or Indoor Light 40 if your cats are prone to being overweight, which is what I feed.

I can attest to the fact that it is the best cat food I have ever fed to my British Shorthairs and my adopted black kitty (Sketch) their coats are just amazing. You can look at their profiles to see them:

The 1st profile is of Riley my BSH: http://www.catster.com/cats/1154963 if you take a look at the 2nd photo of him stretched out on the bed, this is just a few days after I got him in May 2010, notice how dull his blue gray coat is, if you scroll down and look at the last 3 or 4 photos these were taken late Oct 2010. His coat is amazing! He has also grown quite a bit bigger/burly as a male BSH should look.

If you look at my domestic black cat Sketch: http://www.catster.com/cats/1163692
He has been on Royal Canin for a few years now, his coat is amazing, I have him on the light, which is really helping him lose weight, he still loves it!

I only feed soft cat food to Riley (only a small spoonful in the morning) it is the Friskies shreds, have given up on all others. He loves it.

I really monitor their intakes, they are happy, content and really playful. Royal Canin may be more expensive but it is worth it!

Hi I am new here, just got my lilac cream british a month ago, she is now 4 months old and been feeding her Royal Canin 27 aswell as the breeder recommended it and she seems to like it.

Wondered if anyone can shed light into what age brits eyes change to their final colour? Her eyes are currently yellowish with green rims and hoping they will eventually change to amber. Not sure if this is hopeful thinking!? Anyhow she is gorgeous with whatever colour eyes!
