Never tie your dog up outside alone.
If someone is showing a signifigant amount of intrest in your dog, play down your dog's value by saying any or all of the following:
My dog is spayed/neutered.
My dog is old. If your dog is a very small puppy and it's obvious he or she is not old, we would not recommend saying this.
My dog is ill. If you say this, you may as well say that the vet bills are expensive, and that your dog has worms.
My dog is going to be put down tomorrow.
My dog is dying.
My dog has/does _____. (list a behavior problem)
