Can any one help me with a Russian Name pronunciation ??

When and "if" my Siberian Mishka has kittens... I want to keep one and name her after my 20 year old Siamese Mix (Smokey) who died in Jan 08. I have been told that "Dimka"( Deem-ka) means "Little Smoke"

I am concidering that name, but I have also heard that the actual translation of Smokey is " Dimchatiy.

I am trying to figure out how to say Dimchatiy.

as close as I can figure out it sounds like...


Deem-SHAW-teh if any one can help with the pronunciation I would be extremely greatful!!

The word smoke in Russian is pronounced "kuriyu". Blue smoke is pronounced "Siniy Kuriyu". I don't believe there is a Russian word for smokey since smokey is a slang name in English.

Dimka is a Russian pronounciation for smoke or haze.

There are some Russian Siberians out on the Internet with the name Dimka.
