I just joined, because obviously, my mommy loves me and I'm a calico. We read a previous post about a cat being a torbie, but we don't know what that means! I have tabby cat-like stripes in my orange coloring on my face and side. Does this make me a torbie?

Anything to make me feel more special than I already am!

I have tabby stripes in my orange areas too, but I think that's common among american calicos. My sister is a blue torbie; she has obvious stripes in her blue and cream areas.

Okay, I checked on wikipedia, and it says that a torbie has stripes in both the phaeomelanin based colors (red) and eumelanin based colors (black, chocolate and cinnamon). So if the stripes are only in the orange/red tones, then the cat is not a torbie.

I think.
