Pennsylvania
Help save the hundreds of cats rescued from the Tiger Ranch Animal Sanctuary

March 19, 2008 : 12:35 PM
Give what you can to the Pennsylvania SPCA today!

From PSPCA

In a raid conducted with the assistance of the American SPCA (ASPCA) on March 13, 2008, The Pennsylvania SPCA rescued over 600 cats from the deplorable conditions at the Tiger Ranch Animal Sanctuary. Over 400 are currently being treated at the Clarion County PSPCA for severe communicable diseases and illness, malnourishment, and dehydration.

During their treatment period, the PSPCA must indefinitely quarantine all of the cats rescued from the extreme neglect at Tiger Ranch for a period of at least 30 days. A team of PSPCA Veterinarians is working to nurse them back to health and eventual adoption.

This will require extraordinary financial support.

Please consider making a small monetary donation to help the cats saved from Tiger Ranch or donating any of the following items to the PSPCA to aid in our ability to care for them. Please send all monetary donations to: 350 E. Erie Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19134 or call (215) 426-6304 ext. 265 to make a donation by phone. In-kind donations for the items listed below should be sent to the Clarion County SPCA, 9562 Route 322, Shippenville, PA 16254.

We know now that the kittys need some soft blankies to sleep on. Mom is gonna try and get some made.

Anyone who can sew that wants to make blankies - it would be a great help!

Hi, everykitty!
The things that are MOST needed are the litter pans, small metal bowls and most of all, TOWELS (new and used). My momma is going to email the Snuggle Project to see if maybe blankies can be made and donated so these kitties can have something comfy during their recovery.
Morgie, Momma forwarded the letter you sent to us. But she thinks maybe there is a problem with the computer system there. She is going to call Wendy this morning and touch base with her on this.
I'd just like to say that this will make a difference for these kitties. Catster kitties are the best!!

Meows Esther,

Mom is going to make some blankies this weekend - and she will see what she has around here.

Can you ask them if they can use Cosopt? It's a super expensive eye medicine that lowers the pressures. Mom has about 1/3 of a bottle left from my eye surgery. She isn't sure if they will take open meds.

Thank you so much for all of your help!

Morgie,
Momma called Wendy, the shelter director because after forwarding the email letter you sent, she found out that there may have been an issue with Wendy getting emails. She left a message reading a portion of your letter and giving her your Mommy's name and phone number.
Momma heard that they are very busy out there today.

Thanks Esther! Let's see what she says.

We know they can use small litter pans like the ones WalMart and the grocery store sells. They should be light to ship too. Blankies and towels, kitty treats, there is a list in one of the threads.

Morgan, do you have any suggestions on making blanket or soft pads for the kitties? Mom is pretty good a basic sewing and has a machine but needs a bit more direction. Thanks.

Meows Diego,

We would suggest flannel or fleece fabric. If Mom cuts it into 16 x 16 inch square pieces, she can just pin the fabric together - right side facing in.

Sew around the sides about 1/2 inch wide - and leave an opening about 2 inches wide in the middle of one side. Then snip off the edges so when you turn the fabric right side out the corners will be straight. Pin the open part, and sew around the whole thing about 1/2 to 1 inch from the edge.

Similar to the crate pad you have - just more square.

Hope that helps!

Morgan
