There is a town in Iowa called Randolph where the mayor has put a bounty out on cats! Anyone turning in a cat with no collar will recieve five dollars. The animal is then turned over immediately to the local vet to be put to death.
Pet owners are afraid that pets will be stolen, their collers removed, and the helpless animal turned in to the city for euthanasia for the money.
Please, contact this idiotic mayor and let him know that the cat community believes in SPAYING AND NEUTERING cats rather than just killing them at will. Here is the contact information!

that is the most ridiculous thing we have heard of. i believe we heard that the bounty was decided against because several animal groups have stepped in to help. That man should not even be the mayor. We will be nice and not say how we really feel silenced

Hi UT and Everyone
We live in Iowa and could not believe this story when we heard it on our local NBC station last week.
We are happy to announce that with all the outcry (including everyone from Catster) through petitions etc. they have stopped the bounty on the feral kitties in Randolph. There are even some area no kill shelters who have even offered help in rescuing!!!
