Yesterday my beloved dog Bonnie had to be put to sleep due to lymphosarcoma.
It sure would be nice if dogs never got cancer

I lost my battle with TCC (Bladder and Lungs) on 2/26, but I didn't lose all the love and connection that has been part of my 11 years on earth. In the 3 months between diagnosis and passing over to the other side, I was able to play and do all my favorite things, go to work with my mom, and et the best food I've ever had. Now I'm in a much better place, and my family is slowly coming to terms with my passing.

Of all the other dogs and cats in my family, Max is having the hardest time of it. He was always very competitive with me and a bit insecure, and no one thought he'd take it the hardest, but he sits in the yard and watches for me constantly. Does anyone have any words of advice on helping the other family members cope?

I've melanoma.I've had it since 1999.Never took any treatments because the vets said I would die in a year.I'm going on my 9th year of living with this thing.I wouldn't wish this on my own worst enemy!
I join this group to find support and give support.Because I know when I die from this mommy and daddy are going to need alot of support. And dog owners know that, when we lose a furchild it's like one of your family member dies.
Only true dog owners know this and don't criticize other owners for crying over their furchild.

Only true furbaby luvers don't critisize other dog owner fur using chemo to give their pup some quality of life. Mom hears it all the time. And I feel better now than ever.hug

I got a mast cell tumor in the muscle in the back of my neck six months ago. I had it removed, then the scar tissue inside never healed right and an infection was in the scar tissue and it swelled up last month, so they had to go in again and remove scar tissue. This time, they found NO mast cells. (YAY!!!) I didn't go through radiation or chemo. My mom knows how stressful the time can be. She said it really sucked having to think about putting a cost on my life. So try not to think about it like that. $2,000 + later and two surgeries later, I am doing better than ever. They even think the mast cell tumor was causing my allergies (they create histamines). My mom says the only thing you can do is to consider the options, weigh the risks benefits and make the decision that is right for you and your doggie. Also, consider the doggie's life and feelings, and try not to be selfish even though it's hard. It's probably one of the hardest things my mom ever had to go through because I was diagnosed two months after her childhood doggie died.
