I am considering a new living room set. Chase has never seen new furniture before and I am concerned about his reaction- will he claw, bite, chew or otherwise deface it? I guess there is no way to predict but does anyone have experience with introducing new furniture into your kitty's life?

If it's upholstered furniture, stick with a smooth texture like chintz. Anything with any kind of texture at all will encourage scratching.
