I was just sitting here pawing at my favorite mousie and thought... I wonder how all those Olivers got their names?

So I had my typist hop on here to ask! laugh out loud


My name was actually going to be Micky (after mom's favorite Monkee Micky Dolenz.)

But my grandmom said no, no he looks more like an Oliver to me! So we took a vote and Oliver won by a landslide!

I had thought grandmom liked the name because of Oliver Twist, but it turns out it was because of the show Green Acres! She loved how the lady would say Ollie-Var instead of Oliver.

Yes I know my family is a bit odd, but I love them! snoopy

Mama named me Oliver after "Cousin Oliver" in the last season of the Brady Bunch. I joined a tight family of litter mates, who *are* probably cousins, and I turned everything upside down, much like the tv show. In my family--we're all offspring of feral cats in the neighborhood. Mama was also thinking of Oliver Twist, as I was an "orphan" who just showed up in her mother's (my grammy's) yard, at the other end of the street block from mama's house. It seems to just fit me just fine!

I got my name from Cousin Oliver from Brady Bunch because I too am a pest!
Mom had also just watched Oliver Twist the week before and she thought he was cute (like me!)

I was going to be named Baxter, but my mom just kept saying that it just didn't fit. Then she said that Oliver just popped into her head and it was perfect.

That is my pawrents favorite animated movie!
They watch it several times a year and it makes

My mum just wrote down a bunch of boy names and my papi picked Oliver from the list. Then mum said she had to have a similar name for my sister and came up with Abigail.

some nice person at the SPCA named me Oliver and my brother MC not sure what MC stands for but he hardly ever gets called that our mommy and daddy have kind of shortened it down to M or Emmie.

I picked my own name! My parents adopted me when I was just 8 weeks old. They sat me down and went through the alphabet- I didn't react to any names. They finally got to the letter O and said Oliver and I MEOWED! cheer

Sorry for the late response. Mommy's been busy and I couldn't get her to type for me...

My mommy seems to bring kitties to her by planning our names first and waiting for us to arrive. She decided, while thinking about her favorite musical (Oliver!), that if she ever found an orphaned cat (again with the Oliver Twist theme) she would name him Oliver.

One day, I showed up in her life, having been abandoned by my "birth" family when I was only about 8 weeks old and she already had my name picked out! So my name was born before I even was! Of course, it's the bestest name to have.
