update on my little strange ones...
kaya has developed an obsessive relationship with my feet. if i do not hide them, she hugs them n kisses them n rubs them...unless they move, then she bites them n claws them n rabbit scratches them take a look at her page, i actually have a pic of her and "her" left foot...
i think i posted on this elsewhere, but what would inspire a cat to gnaw on bbq charcoal, charcoal pencils, and art chalks...and to be violently obsessed with my (black) coffee? tummy upset? pica? weird?
i have a file of "cats in strange places" pics...most of them are kaya. inside the lamp. on top of their automatic water fountain-waiting for her to get heavy enough to tip it, and see what she makes of the resulting lake). asleep on the vacuum cleaner (???), which terrifies her when it is on, but is apparently a neat place to nap when it's quiet. i had to move my telescope and put away my unattached lenses-i was afraid she was going to kill her silly self trying to perch on the barrel (it's heavy, but she can and has knocked it over that way), and i got tired of chasing down unattached lenses that she'd decided were toys...expensive toys!!
also, she is oddly attracted to water. if there is running water, she must kibitz. filling the coffee pot? kaya comes running. doing dishes? she's there to help. taking a shower? she's there...in the shower with you. startled the heck out of me when i reached for a shampoo bottle and felt fur. the only 'water' activity i've broken her of is supervising teethbrushing, and that was accidental-i did NOT intend to spit toothpaste in her face, she was just THERE...
i set my scanner language to english-well, i read and write english, for me that's most convenient. kaya fiddles with it and gets it set to norwegian. always norwegian. how is this possible? does she count the beeps or what? and why norwegian? is there norwegian forest cat in her ancestry somewhere?
anybody else have a cat that jumps up and down on their hind legs like a kangaroo? she stands near a wall or the entertainment center, and jumps straight up and down. like she's working on her vertical leap or something. this is especially annoying in the near-dawn hours as she bounces up and down on the metal filing cabinet in our room (her room and mine-and you can definitely tell it's half hers). BOINGY-BOINGY-BOINGY...by the time i get up to get her off of there, she's moved on to the chest of drawers to change the setting on the scanner a comedienne in orange...
and, an update on our other little orangie...
shyloh is just as intense, but in a different way. she's much less hyper than her sis now that they've reached the "advanced" age of seven months (and thank you gods, because two jumping beans with claws was a bit tough on the nerves-kaya shows no signs of slowing down yet). but she's a psycho-kitty in her own right.
she holds grudges, for one thing. some are rational-step on her tail, and you need to beware. she IS plotting revenge. (usually an ambush) some are not so rational, she just in general seems to blame melinda (her mommy) if anything happens to scare her. she got outside and was frightened by courting cats. she let melinda hold her for awhile, then suddenly hauled off and slapped her! same thing when she goes to the vet. when we vacuum-whoever vacuums, and it's never melinda because melinda is blind-she attacks melinda. we have a paranoid smoke detector-there's never a fire, never smoke, it gets hot in the kitchen and it goes off...we can't make coffee and cook in there at the same time, that's how bad it is. anyway, you can pretty much count on it having a fit a couple of times a month. it shrieks, shyloh hides...and when she has the courage to come out, she...you guessed it...attacks melinda. now, it's not like these are vicious attacks. but they are a bit...irrational?
also, she likes to play with my ponytail. this is fine. it is not fine when the ponytail goes from being a toy to being an enemy and she sinks her claws into my neck and her teeth into my skull. this is much more painful than kaya biting my feet, and much more threatening. also, she's harder to detach, cause she's behind my head.
we also suspect she is part gerbil. yes, cats eat paper. shyloh, however, shreds paper. shreds it and leaves it in a pile, as if she were trying to build a cushy little nest. i find this odd. amusing, but odd.
she's also a bit of a piglet. begs for food. digs in the trash for food. steals food from your plate. and no, she does not have worms. she just seems to think that what's hers is hers, and what's yours is hers, and she stands up for (and climbs onto and claims) what is hers.
so, in short...they are both hilarious, both intense-yet very different. and we loves them ever so much
