Since those beautiful Christmas decorations are starting to come out, I thought I'd tell you about our Christmas last year. My brother Basil got attracted to some silver garland stuff that was wrapped around the tree. He started to chew on it, and it got wrapped around his tongue like spaghetti. He couldn't get it out of his mouth! My pets never knew about it until boxing day when he was vomiting for the second day in a row.

They took him to the vet, who after 3 hours of surgery removed 2 feet of tinsel garland from his lower intestines. Did you know that animals can survive the surgery but still sink into a depression afterwards and pass on to the Rainbow Bridge? Fortunately he was young and my family urged him to get better. He's fine now, but still gets attracted to anything crinkly or shiny. Mom says He 'll never learn.

Be sure to get your pets to remove any metal tinsel or garland or ribbons from the tree!!!

ps I'm sitting under some mistletoe on my webpage.... : )http://www.catster.com/forums/post.php#
