My mom has trouble typing somtimes and editing her work, oh well. So are there only female calico cats or does any one know of any male calicos. Again my mom and I would like to know. Thanks for putting up with my mom's silly-ness. That's why I love her.
My mom says all calicos are female. Male calicos are extremely rare and usually don't make it past the gestational phase. Calicos can not be bred either because the genetics are so complicated to create one. It is a silly but cute and neat quirk of nature.
Calicos are also the state cat of Maryland and are known to bring good luck. I bring my family good luck all the time.
Hi - I'm new to the group but I saw this and had to respond. Rachel used to work in a vets office and last she heard male calicos are EXTREMELY rare. More often than not, calicos and torties will be female. It's kinda like the orange tabby - the majority of them are male. Weird huh. We're special! MEOW!
