Good dental care is as important to your cat's health as it is to your own.
Help your kitty avoid dental decay and gum disease by brushing his teeth a few times each week. Work up to this by gently massaging his lips and gums, first with your finger and then with gauze. Focus on the teeth and gums next to his cheeks, where plaque tends to build up. If he won't go for brushing, try special tartar-control cat food and chews. Finally, schedule regular dental checkups with your vet as often as you see your own dentist, or every six months.
