- Switch to energy conserving light bulbs
- Turn off lights and other appliances when not in use
- Turn off computer at the end of the day
- Switch to solar heated water (gas is 2nd preference)
- Use buckets to catch water in showers (use to water plants)
- Install a grey water system
- Install a rainwater tank
- Turning down the heating by just 1 will save you 15% on your electricity bills and reduce greenhouse gas emissions…double whammy!!
- Use eco-friendly toilet paper made from recycled paper
- Start a compost pile
- Recycle the appropriate materials
- Switch electronic items off from the wall
- Use the half flush button when possible
At Work/School
- Ride public transport or car pool
- Use recycled paper for printing
- Turn off appliances and lights when not in use
- Plant trees in courtyards
- Start a compost pile
- Switch to solar energy
- Use grey water to flush toilets (just think, the water we flush our toilets with is the same water we drink! )
- Install a grey water tank
- Install a rainwater tank
- Recycle old ink cartridges/computers
- Use email to convey information, don’t print things out
- Provide general rubbish bins and recycling bins
- Use biodegradable packaging in cafeterias
At The Shops
- Take your own reusable eco bags when grocery shopping
- Don’t buy chemical cleaners
- Use environmentally friendly products (they will keep both you and the planet smiling)
-Shop around for the most environmentally sustainable products
For starters, try to enforce a few of these things into your life and eventually do more and more.
