How long are you?

	Based off of a message from our board, I think this is worthy of a permanent thread. I myself am curious: how does one measure a cat's length? Is it from nose to the base of the tail? Nose to the tip of the tail? And do you measure over the top of the head, or along the side of the cat? Or is it some other way? Once I know, I can get my mom to measure me with her measuring tape from her sewing basket! So... how long ARE you?

	Hi fellow Mammoths! The "biggest cat" in the world, according to the Guinness book of world records is Verissimo Leo. He is 48" long measured from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail. He weighs 35 lbs. Leo is a Maine Coon cat. I am almost 1 year old and so far I am almost 42" long. My litter mate sister Maggie is about 34" long.

	Mommy tried to measure me, but I was not very cooperative. I measured 31 inches one time and 29 the next. I think her tape measure is broken. Can I also add my width to that!

	I just got measured this evening, but I wasn't too cooperative. It took 3 tries, but my mom finally came up with 35 1/2 inches.

	Finally, mom measured me! I'm at least 37". Not the longest boy out there; it's all of that muscle that makes me so darned heavy! By comparison, the other cat in the house, Tordi, is 25" and 8 lbs.

	My mom finally measured me. I have a birthday (or I have been acting like it's my birthday) I am 42 inches long. I am a turning 9 soon. I have started to put on a little weight. My mom calls it my middle age spread. I at about 19 pounds now and mom keeps very little food down for me. The other day I watched Misty get stuck in a narrow spot. and she meowed. and meowed till mom came and got her. Mom is really being stingy with the food now. But to be honest nothing is funnier than watching a fat cat with short legs running but not being able to go anywhere. Lardo

	Hi, I'm new here. I'm Jake and when people see me they say, "Hey, look at that humongous cat!". I'm 20 pounds and stand ocwe 16" at the shoulder. Mom thought this question of "how long are you" rather interesting and so has measured me. It's not scientific because I'm lying down and she thinks I might be longer standing but so far she measured 39" from end to end. What is impressive about this is that she got any measurement at all considering how much I dislike having my tail touched. But I let her do it this time. I'll report back if she measures any differently while I'm standing. Anyway, happy to be here with the other Big Cats.
