I am curious to hear about the temperments of other snowshoes. My Layla is a cat the LOVES to be cuddled and loved on, she will come get you out of the living room and get you to follow her to the bedroom where she wants to be pet and hugged and what not. Layla also like to talk... alot. She is slways going on about one thing or another.
Is this typical snowshoe behavior? What is your snowshoes temperment?

Well I am Colorado Snowhoe Wally. I am very gentle and I talk a lot. I want to be petted a lot but not held unless I say so. I love to walk back and forth in front of Mom's computer so she can't see the screen. I come and sit in her lap when she watches TV. I talk to birds and try to mimic their sounds. I love my two dog siblings and my human siblings. I am kind of clumsy but I always walk away acting like I intended to do that. I love to pose for the camera, but I don't like dressing up.

Calvin had a real attitude, not mean just ATTITUDE. He could be very lovely but only when it was his idea. He was very playful although he did like to play rough, I got plenty of bites and scratches. He always sensed when a new visitor did not like cats and he would stay right by them like he was thinking "haha I know you don't like me but I'm not going to leave you alone". I really miss him, I had him 17 years.

I am a loving kitty but I am not big on being picked up. I would say I have crawled into my mom's lap 2 or 3 times in the 6 years we have been together. I do love people and am very curious when someone comes to visit or leaves a message on the answering machine (you mean it's not for me??). Once I even deleted a message, and showed my mom how the answering machine is really supposed to work. I am pretty independent and rule my domain (keeping my little sister in check). I have brilliant blue eyes and everyone tells me how gorgeous I am. They better watch out so I don't get a big head about it. >^..^< Meow for now.

My Snowshoe kitty - Mikey is a very lovable and loves to be cuddled and babied. He stands on his hind legs reaching up my leg with those blue eyes that seem to say "i love you" and then he climbs around and lays around my neck and purrs and goes limp and likes to be carried around like that too (like a shawl). he runs to me meowing and wants loves. BUT he is a one woman cat. He does not like anyone else and does not interact with anyone else like he does with me. He is actually very scaredy cat with strangers (especially men), he is somewhat skiddish too, loud noise he freaks out.

Lilly loves to be held...loves to be cuddled and is very snuggly. She will let me hold her like a baby. She is not vocal at all. I barely hear her meow even. She prefers me to anyone else in the house but is friendly to the rest of the family. She will follow me around at times like a dog would.

Pugsley

Where no kitty- has gone before!

Hi we are brand new to the group. Pugsley is our first Snowshoe, but we have had Siamese for many years. I see alot of the Siamese qualities in Pugsley. Independence is the main thing we see. He squeaks instead of talking vocally. He is very muscular, which surprised us. We found him at 14 wks, 3 lbs. Thank goodness he was healthy. He is very scared of loud noises and when people come to visit he hides.
He loves his brother kitty and two sister dogs. Shows no fear of anything but people. We attribute that to his being a Feral kitty when we found him. He is getting better every day and has come a long way coming out of his shell. He loves to play and is very inquisitive. We are glad that he litterly walked into our lives in a parking lot.

We got Hiro from the pound-- he came home yesterday-- and he has the friendliest temperament. He came out of his carrier (from the neutering at the vets') ready to be petted. He has followed us around and been on someone's lap ever since. He isn't afraid of the kids (ages 2, 6, 8) or of the electric drill my husband used on some cabinets-- he actually came into the kitchen and watched him work. I did have a snowshoe when I was a kid who only liked my mom-- that cat lived to age 18-- so I suppose it varies by cat.

If I'm awake,- you're awake.

Zoe, my snowshoe/Siamese mix is really outgoing and friendly to a fault to humans. She is quite bossy to her half sister, Elvi because Elvi is meak and mild whereas Zoe is like a little bull. Zoe leaps and jumps from furniture when she gets her nighttime craze, usually between 9pm-10pm, then settles down. Every night she gets like this--we can set out watches to the time. I love her to death but I do wish I had found her earlier than I did because she lived on the streets long enough to learn some bad habits (namely biting when we play). She's a pretty cute little character though and always provides a good laugh when she has her nighttime spells.

I am very vocal.I don't like to be picked up,but I like to be stroked only when it is my idea.I had a friend who lived with us for 14 years,Her name was Su Ling,She was also of my breed. We snowshoes are one owner cats, and we don't like noise or alot of people in our homes. There is no other cat in the world as loyal as me.
