Me ... Ivan ... the past few days have not been good. Haven't been to the vet yet, but Ivan doesn't have much appetite and has been enjoying his sunbeams more than usual.

Faith's brother, Tagious, was invited to join this group- Faith, his sister, passed away with Liver/Kidney Failure right before she turned 5 years old. Very sudden, very sad. The doctors helped me out for free once my bank account was depleted in saving her. They gave her everything free for 2 sweeks. Groomed her and pampered her...and pumped her with vitiams, steroids, etc...but it was like hospice, she was dying...slowly, slipping out of my hands and there wasn't anything anyone could do.... she was in silent pain...she wanted me to let go... and I didn't want too..... My husband and I gave her a proper funeral. The doctors wrapped her in her baby blanket and we put pictures of us and her in a ziplock bag... cat nip and favorite toys. Placed in a decorative round hat box so she can sleep (soundly) forever. There was a reason we named her "Faith". I miss her.

I was just diagnosed with it on Feb 9th, 2007. As I'm 20, the vet didn't want to work on me at first, and after I was diagnosed, she asked Mama if she really *wanted* to do the sub-q injections and everything necessary to try and get me better.

Mama said yes, and I've been getting injections as well as lactulose (I have had some issues with a larger colon as well because of the lack of water in my system) each day. Mama also switched my food around and no longer allows me to have *any* human food whatsoever. Only the stuff that she gets specifically for me.

Mama says that I'm looking better than I had been. I am no longer as gaunt as I used to be, and I'm eating more. I *really* hate the sub-q injections, and yesterday and today I said some really naasty words to Mama as she was injecting me. I'm not sure that I like Mama so much right now, but I'm dealing with it for now.

Hi I am new to kidney problems and have been diagnosed with Renal Amyloidosis at 7 yrs old. I have lost about half my weight in one year and am down to 5.3 lbs! I have a great coat and a healthy appetite. I receive saline IV treatments 3 times a week and take lots of medication. I am mostly happy when my little brother doesnt pick on me, but if anyone has any advice for me, please let me know.
