I had the opportunity to go with Mom to a blessing of the animals service this summer- and I got to sit through the entire Mass, too! Not a frequent occurance, but I enjoyed it immensely. Mom says I'd be welcome to go again because I behaved so well!! Boy was I happy about that, because it was SO much fun!
Mom thinks I would behave badly around all those dogs at the blessing of the animals, but I wish she'd take me and let me try! I do wear a St. Francis medal and she blesses me and prays for me. I like to sit with her while she prays her Rosary.
I don't know if this counts, but my people practice abstinence on Fridays all year round. Though I don't care for fish, they give me other things they know I would like, such as cheese or tiny bits of fruit. My adopted sister Minnie, on the other hand, could never get enough artificial crab flakes. She got so that she'd hiss if she couldn't get them out of the bag all by herself.
there is one kitty named noah. he seems to know every time i do the rosary. he likes to put his paw on the rosary. most kitties have a st. francis medal. sometimes i put holy water on them also.
My Mom lights candles, reads a Psalm, then sits very quietly for what seems to me like a long time-she says she is doing "Centering Prayer." I very gently get into her lap and join her, I'm so quiet and still, sometimes she doesn't realize I'm there until she's finished.
Mommy blesses me a lot! She says a lot of prayers for me (I have cardiomyopathy but I am doing SO MUCH BETTER ), and she said that while of course wonderful St. Francis of Assisi is patron saint of ALL kitties, she gave me my own saint--my full name is Amber ROSE, after St. Rose of Lima.
Of course I celebrate Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter with my humans! I don't care much for the turkey they usually have, so I get some yummy tuna fish, my favorite food in the whole wide world!! I also get presents--lots of them!!! (Mommy says it's because I am such a good girl, MOL)!
Mommy also tells me that I am a little blessing from heaven. I don't know about THAT--but I do like hearing it, because I know my mommy (and Grandmaw and Grandpaw) love me sooooooooooooooooo much!!
Mom always says her prayers at night, and she always prays that she will be able to take good care of Muffin (my cat-sister, ya know!) and I, and asks for patience when dealing with us! She also asks Mary to pray that she will be a good "mother" to us and keep us safe.
