Just wait till- you sleep....- ;-) |
| Purred: Thu Oct 12, '06 2:36pm PST | | | | | | i figured we could utilize this forum for sharing our crazy stories with each other.
i'll start. as a young kitten, i was chewing everything i could find. i went to the vet and he diagnosed me with PICA, which is the obsessive, compulsive eating of non edible things.
three years later, i'm still chewing on moms pillows and blankets... and her clothes if she leaves them out. its very comforting to suck on the cotton, but mom doesnt think it is.
i'll also chew up plastic bags (ziplock), hair ties, rubber bands, tissue paper, etc.
please share your stories. they can be really informative to the rest of us. >^..^

so along the lines of self help groups... thank you for sharing.
the food thing is a common problem here. we dont have food down *grumbles* cause i'll just eat it all, then meow for more. so i'm on this "diet" and i hate it... i have to beg for my food every morning and night.

Skylar
Cooking up- recipes in style
|
| Purred: Sun Oct 15, '06 6:53pm PST | | | | | | My food is down, but I have to police it to make sure the bowls stay full. When Scott or Karen puts food in the bowls, I never eat until both bowls have been filled. I always want to make sure there's food for everyone. Karen tried to take away our food bowls one night, but Carbon got into the cabinet for a midnight snack, so they decided to just leave them out. | | | | |

Achamian
'nip often! |
| Purred: Sun Jul 15, '07 10:43am PST | | | | | | I'm new and just read Ed and Skylar's OCD confessions so I thought I would add mine...
Hi, I'm Achamian (Akka for short) and I'm just mad about scratching the carpet. Yes, I know you're all thinking "but everycat does that..." well, I am a little nuts about it. Even after I've used the scratching post, I will attack the carpet without mercy (even with momma and daddy present). Then, after they hiss at me, I roll around on my back, tummy up, for about 3-5 minutes while staring at them. I will do this 5-10 times an evening, if they let me.
Oh, I'm also an admitted 'nip junkie. I can't say I have an addiction, as that would mean I admit it.... maybe I'm more of a connaisseur? If you read my page, you'll see we had a bit of an 'incident' one night the parents forgot to put the 'nip bag away... *looking off fondly* boy that was a fun night!
My momma knows cats with PICA. I hear it's a little more than scary due to the obstruction potential... be careful Ed!
And the last confession, for my sister (Veruca) .... she's completely a compulsive eater. Who ever heard of a female RUNT (haha) Devon Rex who weighted 8 lbs?!? Yeah, daddy nipped that in the bud and now we are both on portion control diets... I don't mind so much but she is inconsolable.
There you have it. Not sure if anyone will read this but my confessions are out there!

yes, mom is careful about the obstruction possibility. luckily i like to chew my things into small bites, but i did poop about half a shoe lace once. most the time its just hairties.
