This is the place where you sign up if you'd like to take part in our group's 3rd Secret Santa! Sign up deadline is November 15th.
What we will be doing is simple. Efurryone who signs up will become a Secret Santa to another fur or furmily, so efurryone will be a Secret Santa & will have a Secret Santa.
Each Secret Santa will buy gifts for the fur or furmily they are given, then mail the package to them.
Our guidelines are pretty straight forward:
1. We ask that you spend at least $10.00 on the gift. You can spend more if you want, just remember it may cost more to mail the package as well.
It can be a bunch of smaller gifts or one gift. If you are making the gifts please keep the $10.00 range in mind (though we know it can cost more).
2. Please be aware that mailing the packages will cost more & the postage price should not be included in your $10.00 gift price.
3. Think about the size of the family of furs you are sending to. One toy may not go over too well if 2 or more kitties/pups are fighting over it. So if you are the Secret Santa of a bigger family keep that in mind.
4. If you are mailing a package internationally please know it will cost more & must be mailed sooner. Also be aware of what can & cannot be sent to that country. I will post a list of customs for each country soon.
5. Make sure your package is mailed in time. Here are the absolute deadlines as given to my mom by the local post office:
For international & domestic packages - mail by December 1st.
(Sorry I had to change this to the 1st for everyfur, but I wanted to make sure all the packages got to their destination in time for the reveal party -- date TBD!)
6. When you sign up, please answer the following questions:
a. What country do you live in?
b. How many in your family are participating? (Unless you say it doesn't matter, we will try to keep similar sized families together.)
c. This one is totally up to you if you want to answer. Which do you celebrate: Christmas, Hanukkah, or another? If another, please post what it is. Again only if you want to. The reason I ask is that it is interesting to see what all our members celebrate & it might help if your Secret Santa wants to enclose a card in your package.
d. Do you prefer to be matched with only dogs or cats? (Sometimes that helps with the shopping ideas.) If you don't answer this question, I will assume no preference.
e. Do you prefer a fur that lives in the same country as you, or are you willing to send internationally?
The primary countries that are the most active within the group are:
A. USA
B. Australia
C. Canada
D. England
6. Though we have most of your addresses we really knead a human name & last name to make sure every package gets to where it's going. If we don't have your mom's or dad's address, we will contact you. Please don't post addresses in the forums or messages.
If you do not want us to keep your humans name on our address list we will remove it after the Secret Santa lists go out. Though we do ask that we be allowed to keep the last name for help with future postcard rounds.
Some fun ideas :
If you are good at making things, you can make your gifts. Those are really pawsome. But don't feel bad if you can't make things, that's what Wal-Mart & other stores were made for....Thank goodness!
You might try getting a few cheaper items instead of one gift. We go to Wal-Mart & PetSmart & they have tons of cool toys that are under or around a dollar each!
You can get fun stuff affordably and do good at the same time by shopping at the Animal Rescue Site store: http://shop.theanimalrescuesite.com/store as well as the ASPCA store http://www.aspcaonlinestore.com/ .
We will post sign-ups for a Christmas Card exchange separately, so you don't have to include a card in your package if you don't want to. If you do decide to include a card you might check to see if the fur celebrates Christmas or Hanukkah etc.
If you want, you might include something for the fur's mom or dad too.
Be creative! A fun thing to do is to send your fur anonymous rosettes to let them know you are thinking of them, or to ask them specific questions. Like do they prefer to jump or stalk toys? That can help you figure out what kind of gifts they might like. They can answer you in their diary or here in the group.
It's also a fun way to let them know when their package has been mailed or just to say hi. Just remember to send them Anonymously & from their Secret Santa.
