Has anyone here read "Water for Elephants"? It is one excellent book. Mom got it as a gift. She says she is really glad a friend gave it to her because otherwise she might not have read it, and she really loved it. The movie version will be coming out soon. Mom thinks they did a pretty fiar job of casting it, especially the elder Jacob character with Hal Holbrook in the role.

I found the stories really depressing, glad I did not buy the book but got it from the library.

Loved the first Dewey book though.

Just my opinion.

Mom has finally gotten around to reading the Warrior seris by Erin Hunter. I think they were written for young readers (like Harry Potter), but she is enjoying them. Its about 4 clans of cats living in the wild. Our hero is Fireheart...natually he is orange. She is enjoying them. They are an easy read but mom has cried a few times.

Mom usually has to pace the reading thing, because when she gets started, well, lets just say that not much gets done till the book is read! The last book read was Eragon. It is geared a bit towards the younger adult set, but our human brother got is a few years back, and Mom likes dragons (yep and she is a Harry Potter addict) It was actually written by a young man of 18 or so we think? But it is good if you like the fantasy type books. There is a second one called Eldest, that she is gonna see if the library has. But the yard work has to get done first, cause well....see the first line! purrs Tig

Tigger, mom also has read Eragon, plus 2 follow up books, Eldest and Brisinger. There is supposed to be a 4th book in the series, but it has not come ut yet. Mom has enjoyed them. Maybe since she is reading books meant for younger readers it means she is regressing in age. Hmmmmm.

Oh, mom also highly recommends Homer's Odyssey.

Homer's Odyssey was an awesome book! Homer has a Facebook page, if you want to be his friend there.

A really interesting book is Edgar Sawtelle. I do have to warn you, it is about dogs, not cats, but it is very well written. Mom really loved the book, but hated the ending...she cried and cried. But when she thinks about it, she says it almost had to end that way.
