So I read The Other and I am Legend. I'll talk about I am Legend first. It was terrific! And was pretty scary, actually. Much better than the movie. It was very different. In the movie, it was more mutant than vampire. And even though the part about the dog was good in the movie, the way the book handled it was much more moving and real.

The Other was very good, but not too scary. I guessed what was going on from the first 10 pages. I was a bit ho-hum on the book for the beginning. Towards the second half of the book I was much more impressed and thought the writing got much better. It's really great how the characters in town are portrayed. There are also some better, creepy-gruesome parts in the second half. All in all a good book.

So I am Legend was pretty scary, but I'm still on a search for something scarier! hehe

its always intersting that the book is always better then the movie, sometimes it ccan end differently then the movie I think books capture your imagination more then the actual movie can espeically scary ones I can easily let my mind wonder and literally scare myself to death and then I watch the movie . and its nothing comapred to the book.

CODY!! hey, do you like Stephen King? It's been years since I read a new Stephen King book, but I'm just starting "Under the Dome". I saw it one day at Stop and Shop (pitiful book selection, but I was desperate for a book to read on the bus&subway) and although I didn't buy it, I kept thinking about it later. It looked so FAT and INVITING. I sent out a message in this Cozy little club, but no one reponded frown . but I decided to pick up the book at the library anyway. I hope it's good! I've only read a few pages so far. These pages include a severed woodchuck and a girl's arm falling from a burning plane wreck, so it looks promising...

Under the Dome was GOOD. I kind of feel like I might have wrote this in the wrong category though, because it's not really horror.
It is pretty fast paced for a thousand page book. Once I started reading, I just couldn't stop. I read far into the night each night until I was done. I can't say that it is the most gracefully written book, but it has a good flow. I got the sense that Stephen King was having a good time writing it. Like he had nothing to prove, just wanted to tell a good story. It had gruesome moments, but it wasn't scary. One thing I miss from his past books is that slow growing build up of fear. I used to feel like it snuck up on me (sneaked up?). The feeling like there was something unknown outside the light of my bedroom.
I thought this book was very good and entertaing though, and I liked the main characters. I felt like I flew through the pages, and there really weren't any droning monotonous parts that you might get in any other 1000 page book. it had some pretty funny moments too. Some of the facts/technical things seemed unbelievable, but nothing that really bothered me or took away from the story.
