I am pissed off!

Literally. I have never missed my litter but now I am pissed off. About 2 weeks ago, mom and dad came home and found one of our 3 litter boxes turned over and litter thrown everywhere! (about 10 feet away, still trying to figure out how that happened) Last weekend, Mom went down into the basement and noticed a pile (like several days worth) of poop under some towels on the floor. She guesses that was me because Bastess doesn't cover her stuff. TODAY she smelled pee in her office and found one load of poop, a wet pee area, and 2 dry pee areas in a box full of stuff! She is pretty sure it's me, because I have been in her office today and Bastess has been elsewhere. I have never missed the litter before, and I don't seem sick, I am acting otherwise normal(playing, loving, eating). So she is thinking this is a behavior issue, like I am pissed off or something. Right now I am sniffing the area mom just cleaned up too.

Maybe Bastess ambushed you in the tray, a fight ensued, the tray got tipped up, now you've got an issue with using the tray?

If they were brawling on the edge of the box, it could tip up... I'm sure Bastess and Stony's combined weight could do it if there was a lot of thrashing around.

even though you seem to feel fine I would still recommend a vet visit just to get checked out. Seems unusual that you would go in so many different locations. Usually if a cat is pissed off they pee or poop where it will make the most impact - like in the middle of mom's bed. Has there been any change in the type of litter in your box or the location of the box? Any changes in the household - new people, new pets? Blade could be right about being ambushed while you were tying to use the box - how rude!! Has your mom seen you using the box sometimes but then going outside the box other times? thinking what could be causing this change in your behavior?

I'm recommending a vet visit and if there has been a change in litter or litter box, I'm recommending putting things back the way they used to be.

Oh Stony! I am so sorry you are mad! Your mom will have to look at your guys lives very closely to see if there have been any changes at all in your lives. Your mom has been traveling some lately hasn't she? Has she been gone more than normal? What seems like a very small or subtle change in our human's lives is a huge deal to us sometimes. Changes in food? Hours your people are keeping? Any extra stressors? Different people in your house? More people in the house? Anyone spending the night? I know your mom has been busy planning the wedding, has she moved any furniture in the house?
I sure hope you feel better soon.

Actually the box was in 2 pieces (it's a covered box) and litter was sprayed 10 feet! There have been no additions lately, but mom went on a trip and 2 weeks before that dad was gone and then my least favorite person came to spend the night. Daddy says i seem afraid to go in the litter room. I am very cautious when I go.
