Molly, I hope you like the tuna flavoured meds, I didn't like any fish unless mum was eating fish sticks and then I would try to steal, them off her plate. I used lactulose after my CRF made me constipated and it worked well so hopefully it will for you too.

My human grandparent's cat Mai Ling suffered from constipation all her life and they used slippery elm which is a herbal thing. I don't know much about it except that it worked well for Mai Ling who took it for 10+ years and may be worth asking your vet about if the other meds don't work.

Thanks I had to revisit this thread and put it in front of the human so she can take noticeeek
I'm struggling to poop and I don't seem to get them to notice me.
The human male said I was fine but I knew she would do something. So as soon as she got home and I set my eyes on her, I headed straight to her doing my best pooping action while walkingred face. You know with the look in my eyes as if to say come on .......cry I need help here.
She made the human Male go to work with her so they could buy some lactulose from the Chemist. (It's Sunday here and luckily the human male had some of the day off) He made me take it this morning. So paws crossed it helps It's now PM here and I'm sleeping comfortably. If I'm not better tomorrow she said I have to go to the Vets. I'm not due in there for a few months yet, so I don't really want to go in if I don't need to. I hate going in there cry I go every 6 months (it's a legal thing so the human can get more injections for me).

So thank you for all the info it's good to go over it all again, Purrs Balty

OK I've read all of this thread and mom and dad have tried most of this stuff and it doesn't seem to want to work....and I'm not cooperating with all the suggestions either.confused. I had colitis in March, got medicine, and got better. Mom wanted me to gain weight, so she tried tuna/refried beans....YUMMMMM but the diarrhea came back..BAD. I use the box sometimes, other times the floor and mix that up between the carpet and concrete. Mom found a problem on my bottom...I had an abscess on my anal gland. Had to go have that fixed. More medicine. Dad holds me, mom sticks medicine in my mouth, flips me around and something gooey on my bottom....talk about embarrassing. Ok we have gone back to the vet who says my butt looks good...and he's right, I KNOWlaugh out loud But I still have Diarrhea. Vet said plain or vanilla yogurt. I don't like either. I'm getting more medicine and my poopie is getting more solid sometimes but not all the time and when it isn't I leave it somewhere they can find it. Mom and dad are lost and trying to figure out but getting more and more worried. We got an enzyme powder on our food for awhile and it seemed to work, but then Phantom started throwing up. They don't know how to get to feed us separately. Any other thoughts?

How much of the enzyme powder to you need to get? If it is just a small amount maybe you could take it in a gel cap or in a liquid that your mum could squirt in your mouth. There are compounding pharmacies that could take the enzyme powder and and make the caplets or liquid suspension. If it is a larger amout maybe your mum and dad could just shut you in a room with your favorite food with the enzyme powder in it while they are at work. I always had food out all the time but some people put food down for 30 mins and then remove it and apparently cats learn to eat more quickly so you could try that and just eat in different rooms.

Also if you don't like yoghurt you can get probiotics in capsules that your mum and dad can sprinkle on your food.

Freckles, Good idea on shutting in the room with the food. Then mom and dad don't have to find a pill. I don't mind the powder on my food, doesn't really have any taste at all....they were putting it on tuna and on my canned food, but have stopped both until they figure out what is causing my problem. They do leave food out all the time so we can eat whenever we want.big grin
