Ok now that all the snow is melted i tried biking with the dogs one at a time and so far everybody loves it especially Bubba he likes to run. Only one problem Bowser is terrified of it. He will walk up to it just fine but if hes standing beside it hes constantly looking out of the corner of his eye like he doesnt trust it and hes doing the nervous licking lips thing. Its never fallen on him ive never chased him with it he just doesnt like being beside it.
I gave him full length of the leash and i even tried to get him to follow Todd just with me walking the bike not actually riding it. But he completely shuts down he tries to do the "flight" but i dont hold him there i just give a correction and bring him back to it but he only does that like 3 times then he just stands there and will not move for anything.
Could i try using the kong stuffin peanut butter stuff and let him lick it off the bike? I thought about trying to lure him with bacon since it has a strong smell. It would really be nice if someone would push the bike and then i just walk him behind it but nobody here will help me with the dogs. Maybe if i have him do search and find(he searches for a treat that ive hidden)near/around/on the bike he wont be so scared of it.
It would really help him since he loves to run i think hed really enjoy it if he could just get over this fear.frown

Wow! You sure have great ideas about using the dog's nose to lure him to the bike! I think they might work. What if you also walk with the bike, just to get him used it being there? Like don't even get on it for a couple of days, and then ease into it. Get on the bike for a moment, reward him for following without panicking. Repeat this several times. This might work, too. I think your dog will get over the fear.dog

Yesterday i put little dots of the peanut butter on different parts of the bike and then told him to find it and he searched and licked it off. But i noticed his tail was between his legs when he was doing it. After a while i started just rocking the bike when he was licking it and hed run off but he always come back when i held the can of peanut butter down.
He wont even walk by the bike when im just pushing it thats what i mean by he shuts down he would literally let you drag him if you tried. Im trying to incorporate it into everyday things like when i take them out to pee he has to walk by it not run. I think hes fine if its just standing there but when it moves is when it scares him. Well im going to work on it some more today.

I'm thinking of episodes I've seen of Cesar working with a dog who won't walk (for various reasons), and he calm assertively leads the dog forward despite the fear or whatever the problem is. I know you said you would be literally dragging him, but you could try gentle tugs and release the tension on the leash, and still get him to walk alongside you with the bike on the other side. Do you remember seeing episodes like that?

I'm not sure if that helps, or if Cesar would refer to those cases, but I think it's worth a try to see if you just don't listen to the fear, and keep moving. I'll try to find some examples of episodes and get back to you. Anybody else know what I mean?

Can you bring the bike in the house, lay it down and then when you feed him put his bowl right against the bike frame. Then walk away and just let him eat and experience being with the bike. Depending on how much fear he's showing, you could prop the bike half way up next and continue to feed right next to it. Then feed right under the upright bike.

You could also lay the bike down and throw really good treats so that they land around the frame and drop some through the spokes. You may want to tie the tires at first so that they can't spin and scare him.

Have you seen Cesar attach two or more dogs together to help the dog that is unstable (ie, shutting down, fearful)? Sometimes he attaches Daddy to another dog, or Junior to another dog, etc. So the dog that loves trotting along with the bike might be a great influence as you walk the fearful one next to you and you pushing the bike beside you. It's worth a try!dog

Yeah i thats why i tried to get him to follow Todd cause when we first brought him home he was scared of everything unless he saw Todd do it. So like when i bring a new object in the house his first intention is always run so i call for Todd and only Todd, when Bowser sees him go up to it its like all his fear melts away and he comes too.
But i dont know if i could tie Bowser to Todd i think he would just drag him around when he was running away. Bowsers the biggest dog we have, not the tallest thats Bubba, but he weighs the most. I could start by just walking Bowser tied to Todd to see how that goes maybe he wont pull him down.
I wanted to do that bring the bike in and make him eat by it but theres literally no room in my parents house so i guess i could feed him outside.

If you don't have space I understand. You can try the same things outside. Dutch was initially fearful of the bike and now she is happy to run next to it.

Ive been feeding him with the bowl directly under the bike and i made him eat out of the same bowl as Todd. Well today i put the longest leash on him hopped on the bike and then completely ignored him i kept talking to Todd in the high excited peppy voice telling him to come on and hurry. Bowser tried to pull away but i just kept pulling him back and he got the hang of it after a couple laps around the house. He likes to run but hes still a little unsure so im going to keep feeding him around the bike food always seems to work with him. laugh out loud
